I Can Always Tell
PG-13
Lex Luthor/Kitty Kowalski

A ficlet inspired by one of my favorite scenes in Superman Returns (so, spoilers, duh). And if you've seen the movie and love Lex Luthor, and are familiar with my kinks, you know what scene I'm talking about. :)

"So did you get your rock?"

He glares at her for a moment before his eyes flick down and then back up as if he's trying to decide if he wants to tell her or not. Kitty hates it when he doesn't trust her, but Lex can't pass up an opportunity to gloat, and with a smug grin on his face, he leans a bit closer and says "I did" in a low voice.

Kitty can feel his fingers digging into her arm. She's stopped struggling, but he's only holding tighter.

"You tried to..." She can't even finish that thought, or maybe she doesn't want to admit it to herself.

"No. I didn't." He counters calmly.

She's shaking again, tears sliding down her cheeks, and the thing that bothers her the most is the fact that he's only staring at her, his brow furrowed as if he's trying to figure out why she'd be upset about all of this.

"What if Superman hadn't been there?"

Lex only gives her a patronizing smile. "Oh, we both know he could never resist a damsel in distress."

She lets him draw her closer, just as she lets him do a lot of things, but it's Kitty that wraps a hand around his tie and tugs him down. "Don't do that to me again." She murmurs harshly against his mouth.

A challenge flashes in his eyes. They both know Lex Luthor cares about one person and one person only. Himself.

He kisses her then, selfish and urgent, taking from her, always taking, but it makes Kitty whimper and she wishes he needed her as much as she needs him.
