"We mean you no harm," her abductor said again, it's wings gently fluttering as if to calm her.
"You are in grave danger here," said one of the new arrivals, who looked very much like a Pussycat Swallowtail except that it was nearly as tall as Tegan.
"Very grave danger," agreed its companion, wings shuddering.
"It is not safe to walk The Land any longer." There was a mournful tone to her abductor's soft, almost feminine voice.
"Eh? What do you mean...not safe to walk the land anymore?"
Tegan twisted and looked at the other butterfly. "What's going on around here? I thought this was a paradise...but then again...that was the Doctor talking."
She looked at the one that carried her. "The ground...like that vine that grabbed me? You know what's going on with that? Are you responsible for it? And what about the Doctor?! Is he all right?"
She knew she sounded demanding, but her patience was short.
Most of the butterflies seemed to shy away a bit at her harsh tone, but the one who had carried her showed no such timidity.
"It once was as you describe," it said. "All was in Harmony. Land and Water and Sky. There was no fear."
"No fear," agreed the others, almost in chorus.
"Until The Change. The vine creature of which you speak . . . and worse creatures . . . now haunt The Land. It is unsafe for any. You and the other Land Walker are not the first to have come here since The Change."
"The others! Oh the others!" said the chorus mournfully.
"We could not help them," it said sadly. "But we would help YOU, if you will let us."
It's wings fluttered as it bent forward abit in what seemed very much to be a bow. "I am Blue. I am Monarch of the Winged. And we would help you."
Tegan looked for a hand to shake, but settled for a little smile. "I'm Tegan, Tegan Jovanka, Blue. I will let you help me..."
She looked from one butterfly to another. "The Change? What's the change?"
Blue nodded sagely. "The other LandWalker...the Evil One...the one who holds your friend. It has caused the Change."
"Evil! Oh Cripes...he has found the End of all Ends...again. Evil has him? Hell's Teeth, we have to do something to help him. Blue, you must take me to him."
