Musical Discoveries

Having lost track of most of my music through several hard drive migrations, I rely mostly on Youtube (and the recommendations made by the algorithm). While I am certain I have somehow mistaught my algorithm (which thinks I like to watch Paw Patrol thanks to Eline, Lord of the Rings theory videos thanks to Nathan, and drawing lessons thanks to Tâm ( Read more... )

Yay, music post!!!!

I use Spotify and have been for some years now, which has the nice side effect that I now have playlists for every year since 2018, called "2018 (re-)discoveries", etc. So I collect new stuff there, but also songs I had forgotten about. If I ever lose that data, I seriously don't know what I'll do!!

Newer metal/rock recommendations - I like Halestorm, Pretty Reckless, Coheed and Cambria, Ghost... I'll write a bit more about music in general, with some track recommendations, soon, too!

The discoveries you've made sound cool and I have heard of NONE of them, so I'm excited to go on a Metal journey soon! Apart from Federkleid, as we have established. Faun is fantastic indeed. One day, I'll prance across a flower field, listening to that song. Bucket list material right there.

Amusingly, I also knew Black Ninja and I sometimes unironically listen to In This Moment. There's a song where she sings about "being the dark you created", and it really sounds like "I AM THE DUCK YOU CREATED". She's basically Darkwing Duck.

Yeah, her vocals are always really funny. I have it easier to understand Faun when they sing in German than Maria Brink when she sings English :)

Stan is working from the office today, which means I made a Tegarend playlist - today is METAL DAY 😈

Insomnia gave me a good dose of gothy nostalgia! Liking "Heart like a Grave", that's a really beautiful, dramatic song!

Grail is very cool, I'm kind of glad I don't understand them... It's a problem I have with Faun with their slower songs - if it's German, I apparently need it to be dramatic, or angry, if it gets too soft, I feel like I'm back in church camp!
Anyway, I think Grail is perfect music to do art to, or chores, or work... it also does a thing in metal I really like and I can't name, but it has that good old 'rumble' to it if you know what I mean?

Sidenote, I was listening to Semblant without looking at them. I missed like half the fun :D The guy is so theatrical!

Thanks for sharing :)

METAL DAY!

I find it has both that nice "rumble" (yeah I know what you mean) but also a bit campiness in the folky elements (e.g. the flutes).

The guy from Semblant is hilarious in his antics indeed :).

He mimed "dead inside" by mime slitting his throat and then also mime stabbing himself in the heart in one motion at some point there, what a lord! He would make a great sidekick for the TERRIFIER.

I love the idea of Putin going "We need to push the folk metal propaganda harder, it's working!" :D
