I had to go to John's house. We are both dorky enough that it mattered deeply that he had one of my Neil Gaiman novels, and I had one of his Hunter S. Thompson books ( Read more... )

yeah I know how that goes. You feel for them and they don't realize that you can't just "turn it off"

Hey hun, some guys are just like that. It sounds like he knows he hurt you, and since he has only dated one chic for six years he has no experience with a real break up. You loved him, I could tell when you talked about him. Its going to be hard, but you will make it. You are a pretty girl, and you are super smart and funny, you will find the right guy some day. You always have to love to learn right. HUGS SIS take care

Awwwww I love you! *hugs*

And you nailed it. His brother and I talked about this.. he doesn't know how to be single. And he doesn't know how to handle this at all. He's never had to do it, really.

Heh... I dunno, the two times i've broken up with girls I still tried to be all nice and friendly with them afterwards, and I don't think it helped. Maybe if would have been easier if I had made them hate me afterwards, I dunno. Heh, they both eventually started hating me anyways later on, so I guess it would have just saved time. Maybe we think if we're still caring and nice it won't be so bad, but apparently a lot of the time it has the exact opposite effect.

Of course, again... most of my experience with breakups has been on the recieving end, so I don't really know what i'm talking about. :P

No no... you just need to leave them alone for a while. As Cara says, it's unfair to assume feelings have an off/on switch, and you can flip it down by breaking up with a girl. Thusly, it's unfair to assume you can count on it being off every time you walk by.
