About two weeks ago, my employers (for anyone who doesn't know, I'm a nanny) told me that they are moving to Billings, Montana in late August/early September

My 7 cents. or less, depending on how much it's worth to you :-pfikkshuns_cureMay 14 2006, 18:34:08 UTC
this scenario screams one thing to me: opportunity! you have absolutely nothing to lose in the grand scheme of things. Although that's easier for me to say, it's obviously your life, and not mine, what you're leaving, you would always have to come back to. Family, and your real friends, will always be there for you regardless. This is a chance for you to get out into the world in a new place, and that's an exciting prospect that I see you really doing well with. You're a great person and I know you'll make great friends wherever you go, and that area seems to have a lot of things of interest to you as well, so that's a prime area to meet new people. Good luck either way doll ^_^
Go for it. Opportunity seldom knocks when you are ready.
We all miss family and friends when we pick up and move, but the beautiful thing is that the internet brings those people much closer than ever used to be possible over long distances.
The main thing I'd look at is cost of living. A larger city is going to be more expensive than The Dalles, so make sure whatever pay you negotiate will keep you in a lifestyle that is acceptable to you in the new location.
We are going to get together and formerly discuss a switch to a monthly salary, which they say will be higher than my average monthly income right now.
And I've looked at apartments in Billings. Generally, a one bedroom apartment is around $400 and a studio apartment is around $300, and utilities are often paid.
You know what? I think you should go. I would miss you like hell, but I really think you should do it! You'll be better off if you ARE NOT in The Dalles. That place is like a blackhole!!! Plus I can fly over and see you and we can go to Yellowstone!! I've never been and I've always wanted to go. It would be so nice to go visit you there!!! To go hiking together. And of course you can always come back and visit!!! And hey if you don't like you're not obligated to stay. I just think it's a really good opportunity for you. Anyway, just know no matter where you are I LOVE you!!!
Hey it would be great, I totally agree with everyone else. You would have to visit, but that isn't that bad. You love working witht the baby, you would have a job before you got there already set up that you know you like. You said it yourself you don't have to work with Co-workers, and custumers that you would love to make miserable on a bad day. I say GO HAVE FUN MEET NEW PEOPLES GROW AND LOVE IT ALL.
dude, I say go for it. If you absolutely hate it then you can always come back. But if you take the offer you'll have some interesting experience under your belt. And Montana! I heard it's gorgeous up there. And yes, Billings has good colleges. They're giving you free room, right?
They're giving me a place to stay until I find an apartment (I'd really rather live on my own), raising my pay to a monthly salary that is more than the monthly average of what I make now, and providing health care.
