Spring dance
"Come on Daiki! Faster!" MIka shouted at her back.
"Chotto Matte Mika!" Daiki replied
Mika glared at him, "Geez, its your fault if we are LATE again"
"Okay I'm sorry. I just can't help myself from playing that video game oneechan bought for me."he apologized
Mika sighed, "Enough with the excuses."
"It’s TRUE!" he murmured
"Hai. Hai" she said
since the start of semester everyday for MIka Tachibana and Daiki Arioka is like this. The two are really close and they always go to school together as well as going home.
Luckily, they arrived on time.
"Safe" the both of them said as they headed for their classroom.
The moment they entered the room,teasing from their classmates welcomed them.
"Ayieee... As always, our favorite couple arrived at the very last minute. So where have you been? On a date this time?" Michiyo Haruna, one of their classmates teased.
"Of course not. Daiki woke up late again playing some stupid video game, right?" Mika said.
Daiki looked at her, "Hai, but just so you know, it’s not stupid."
"Here we go again." Michiyo said giving Haruto Ken a high five.
"What is it this time?"Ken asked
Michiyo giggled, "A video game"
Daiki and MIka continued their fight while Michiyo and ken just watched them with great amusement. They just stop when their teacher entered the room.
"Ohayo minna!" Suzuki-sensei said.
"Ohayo!" The class replied
Suzuki-sensei looked at the whole class. "I guess no one is absent for today. Good,because I have a big announcement. This saturday, the annual spring dance will take place."
The spring dance is one of the events that the students look forward to every year. It is usually prepared by the student council. As expected, the girls were excited. As soon as Suzuki-sensei is out of sight, they started chatting with each other.
"Spring dance, huh?" Daiki whispered as he looked at Mika who seemed not to care at all.
Later at the canteen
"Geez, only 5 days before the spring dance. Is the time enough for me to prepare?" Mika murmured as she prepared her bento.
Daiki flashed a grin "Yeah, you're having second thoughts because it involves DANCING."
Mika glared at him "Shut up will you?" she paused for a while."But I wonder if something unexpected will happen,like someone will confess at me" she added shyly
Daiki choke all of a sudden
"Are you alright?"Mika asked
"Yeah, I just didn't expect you to say that."Daiki replied
Mika pouted "Geez, with your reaction,its kind of impossible. I will just not come then. Guess I have to turn them down later on." she said.
"Them?" Daiki asked
"Yup, three boys from different classes already invited me to come with them on the spring dance." she explained
"Are you serious?" Daiki blurted out because of shock.
"Hai"she answered.
"Eh?" Daiki was left speechless.
"Why Dai-chan are you jelous?" a different voice asked
Daiki turned around and saw Michiyo.
"Of course not." He answered
"Man, with your reaction it’s not impossible to tell." ken added.
Mika just laughed
Daiki stood up "Since when did the two of you enterd our conversation?"
"Just now." they said.
Mika patted Daiki's back and looked at MIchiyo and ken. "Stop it or he'll get pissed off"
The two nodded in reply.
Later that day
while walking, silence reigned between Mika and Daiki. No one talked until they were in front of MIka's house.
"Gotta go. Bye" Mika said as she opened the gate.
"Wait"
Mika stared confusedly at him. "Yes?"
"Will you be my date on the spring dance?" Daiki asked straight forwardly.
Mika smiled. "Of course." She then hugged Daiki and immediately went inside.
Daiki smiled too.
The next day
"I knew it" Ken said.
Daiki ignored him
"Come on, you like Mika-chan that's why you asked her out. MIchiyo told me. "He added
without anyword, Daiki stood up.
"Okay then because you're pestering me this early, you have to help me out.
"Uh-Oh." ken thought to himself
Days passed quickly and its already time for the spring dance.
"Do you think its okay?" Mika asked nervously
Michiyo smiled, "Of course"
"Can I just leave?"
"What are you talking about?" Dai-chan is waiting for you and to tell you something, you look great tonight."Michiyo beamed at her.
"All thanks to you."
MIchiyo gave her a peace sign. "You're welcome"
MIchiyo and MIka went to the place together. Everyone's eyes were fixed on MIka. She looked very beautiful with that blue gown and simple make-up. She's now the center of attention.
Mika whispered to Michiyo's ear, "This is what I'm trying to say. Where's Daiki anyway? I want to go home."
"Just wait and see." MIchiyo answered while walking slowly away from her.
"Eh? Wait!!" Mika tried to call her but the spotlight is already set on her.
"EHEM!"
Mika looked at the stage and saw Daiki. That formal attire looked very good at him.
"Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the annual spring dance. First I want to tell you that I'm not the MC here and second, I have a very big confession to make." He looked directly at Mika's eyes who now can't move because of shock.
"Ive been trying to hide this from the start. For I'm afraid that I'll be rejected. Now, I've gathered all the courage I could get to tell this beautiful lady in blue that captured my heart. Will you be my girlfriend?" he said sweetly.
Thee crowd was left speechless, all of them are waiting for that lucky girl to respond to this brave man's confession. Then they saw the girl smiled and nodded. Cheers and applause were heard all around. Daiki went off the stage and approach Mika.
"Omedetou Daiki!" Ken said while holding the microphone. "well, I'm the real MC this night. I know we're all atunned by the sweetness we all witnessed. So enjoy the night and let the dance begin."
A very sweet and romantic music was played and couples are gathered at the center.
"That was embarrasing!" Mika said
"Yeah. I know but that's what you want right?" Daiki smiled.
"I just can't believe you did it."
"All thanks to MIchiyo and Ken. I owe them a lot. I can't do it without them"
They both laughed.
Daiki slipped his arm around Mika's waist and pressed her closed against him. She then wrapped her hands around his neck."
"I love you" MIka whispered.
"As I love you." Daiki said as he planted a kiss on her lips.
