the HUGE plant info/trade extravaganza post!

here's what I have available, and here's the greenhouse with the cuttings with their tiny leaves, just waiting to root and then take off XD

as some of you may know, I'm something of an amateur horticulturist.  with spring on the way, I want to open my (overflowing) garden and share the wealth!  and who better to share highly fragrant and beautiful plants with than fellow perfume addicts?

so here's a special spring deal: I'm open to swapping brugmansia or passionflower cuttings for bpal!  please scroll all the way down - some of these pictures are really worth sharing!  (no, they weren't all taken by me :P)

first! this is a brugmansia flower - yes, it's as huge as it looks.  some of the flowers can reach 18 inches long!  they become HIGHLY fragrant at night - one of the main reasons I'm offering these to fellow bpalers :P  some of these have a scent like honey, others smell fresh and slightly citrusy, some smell slightly rosy, and others are indistinctly pleasant.

here's a friend of mine holding an exceptionally large flower he took from another friend's house:

they're incredibly easy to take care of and make great container plants.   you can keep them tiny by planting them in a small pot, or you can create a small tree in a big pot:

or, if you live far enough south to have kinder, gentler winters, you can put it directly in the ground and have a massive tree, like this:

here's a prime example of how well they do in containers:

they can be all different shades of white, light pink, dark pink, yellow, orange, peach, etc.  there are also doubles, like this:

they will bloom continuously regardless of season, as long as there's enough light and warmth.  they flush every couple of weeks, depending on the variety.  a friend of mine with a large, established plant had 400+ blooms open at once! I wish I had a picture to show, but here's another good sized flush:

here's a picture of one of my container plants from last year:

I kept its growth in check by keeping it in a medium sized pot so it could be moved inside or outside.  I brought it in my room every night because the fragrance was out of this world!  fellow perfume addicts will understand :P

I've also got passionflowers to trade!  these are strong vining plants that will cover a pretty trellis or an ugly fence or anything you put them on.  you could also put them on a mature brugmansia plant to bloom in between brugmansia flushes!  here's my caerulea:

the scent is just like a pineapple guava, if anyone's ever had one.  incredible almost candy sweet fruity scent :)
here's a gif of this flower opening:  http://tehriaz.malkier.net/!omgx/caerulea/wuvrick.gif
and here's a shot of my passiflora incense, another very strongly scented passionflower (with an added bonus of a brightly colored friend!):

for anyone curious, yes, these are the same plants that passionfruit come from :)

upon request, besides swapping for bpal on my wishlist, I'm also willing to sell these for a low price, and the funds will go toward buying new varieties that I'll be able to share with everyone in the fall!  in spite of what I paid for them originally (between $20-$40 each), I hate accepting money for a living thing.  so I'm willing to sell them for $9 each, two for $15, or three for $20!  prices are negotiable, and I have a wide selection of varieties of different colors, sizes and flower shapes to choose from :)

so hey!  please, feel free to ask me about these :)  even if you just have questions, I'll be happy to answer them!  if you're interested in any, I can help you choose some based on your climate and available space, and I can readily take cuttings for you and root them.

by the way!  for future reference, I'll always be here for any gardening advice you may need!  drop me a pm or comment anytime :)

happy spring!

Ria
