As of late, I've been going to various dating sites on the internet, to see what kind of people frequent internet dating culture. I've been spending most of my time looking at those based on the geek subculture. What I have found has led me to the astonishing realization that I am not, in fact, socially retarded. The term that I will be using for ( Read more... )

For the most part though, I already have become disinterested. Most women are shallow, and while I'm not bad looks-wise, I am a good bit overweight. So, while I've been lucky to find a couple girls in my life who hadn't been quite so shallow, they were also on-medication crazy, I try not to be a miserable bastard for the most part, though it tends to be that all I do is bitch on LJ. The social interaction I do allow into my life for the most part is positive, but it usually centers around the small, close-knit group of friends I've acquired through the years. It just tends to be the case that outsiders to this group usually aren't worth socializing with, as sad as that may be.

Online dating is always stupid. I've never had any lasting relationship, friendship or otherwise, with people met via the internet. Let's face it. If people want quality social interaction, then they have to go out in the world and find it. Online dating is for people who don't want to make the effort to leave their houses and meet people. They want finding a mate to be as simple as doing an online search, but it's not. Sorry if you disagree, but that's the way I feel about it.

Oh, no, I quite agree with you, it is stupid. I sign up for these sites out of boredom, and lack of anything constructive to do with my time. It's really just a means for entertaining myself. Though I do understand the lazy person's point of view, they may have a hard time with going out into the world and need that extra added push. I've known a few people now who are happily married after meeting from a dating site. So, no matter where you go, it's really just about putting in the effort.
