Polling the masses...

If I were to start up a new MMORPG...
Should I start EQ2, WoW, CoH, CoV, or something else?
And what server should I play on?
Any suggestions? ^_^

CoH/CoV are effectively the same game. The only difference is that for a somewhat larger startup cost, you can have access to both sides of the game. Same monthly fee, though.

And it depends. WoW is good for soloing, to be sure. EQ2 seems to typical SOE fare, in my opinion. CoH/CoV is amusing, given that you can wander around thrashing thugs silly without feeling like you're wasting your time on giant rats or the like.

Also, if you get WoW, I'm over on Garona with some decent guildfolk, and occasionally Fox is on hand to punt at enemies.

Likewise, CoH/CoV we're on Guardian server.

'course, with my grades, I shouldn't /touch/ any new games...

Are you telling me you lack the will to deal with your coursework first and then game, Lady Balance? ;)

I am telling you that I tend to try to balance work and play at the same time, by studying/writing papers while fighting. ;)

i highly suggest WoW. it's far more immersive and entertaining than some the Co* series, and EQ2 is still just crap. (yes, i've played it)

There's also FFXI, but I dunno about that one yet.

FFXI = blah.

Too much focus on needing a group.

How did you all end up on different servers? 0.o

Fox and I are on the same one.

In Jen's case, she started playing with her mate first, and he's on Uther rather than Garona - even though Fox and I were trying to get her to play a long time before that point. ;p

Surika chose to start on the same server as some of her other friends, rather than Fox and I, which might have been a wise choice, given that Fox is only rarely on and I'm still trying to get my new desktop to work (actually that's in Fox's hands at the moment, due to my schedule devouring my time for the next week or two).

Bazil doesn't play at all. His offline life is keeping him occupied, mostly.
