Early in September 2009, I found myself with a month free and itchy feet. So I bought a ticket and off I was the next day to Guatemala. One of my main goals for the trip was to learn to speak spanish. I got my wish. From the first hour after touch down, my primary language of communication was español

I went to Pacaya once, too, but unfortunately no lava was flowing at the time. We did get to look into the caldera, though, and when the wind changed direction all 20 in the group all coughed at once!
