I've taken the week off, and M and I are going to a Vineyard regional conference in Chicago Tu-Fr. We've been general fans of Vineyard conferences since the late 90s, when I got to tag along with Steve Nick to the national pastors conference in Anaheim (and became a devotee of Don Williams and Dallas Willard), and M began what has since become her ( Read more... )

If they're anything like my parents, you'll have to go home with them and hook them up ;-). Actually, my dad is the "smart" one in the family - he's a retired schoolteacher with a Master's+30 - my mom never went to college, but when it comes to the practical, technical stuff, she's much better than my dad. I think it's because she's more patient and learns by trial and error, which is sort of the way I learn stuff like that.

There is some sense in which this is true in our family as well - my mom is better at plumbing-and-such than my dad, although that may be less aptitude-driven than time-and-resource-allocation driven. I've never known my dad to put his mind to something and fail (unless it was relational).

What does Masters+30 mean? 30 yrs experience?

No, it's 30 credits beyond a Master's Degree...I think they call it a CAGS now - Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies. It's for the field of education...I don't know if other disciplines have such a thing.

you asked for a post on my blog...that has not happened yet, mostly because I was in the middle of a total revamp of my site...the "test site" (ie...not everything works and I haven't entered my meta tags...) is up for now. http://www.redletter7.com

I'll do a post in the next few days I think. I'll let you know when I do.

so, how was the conference? Did you feel the rush of "Big-picture teaching on kingdom theology/inaugurated eschatology and Christian community?"

I feel sort of out of the loop down here in mexico and I'm trying to figure out how things went. Hap and Di were just down here and he told me that they could get me the main speakers when I get back.
