I weep (literally) for the father.

What must he have been going through to lose his wife and give up his baby? The sense of loss, inadequacy, fear, and guilt must be overwhelming.

But what trust and humility!

Wow. I want to be able to look back at my life and know that I lived that way too.

what an inspiring story. Why did the clinic tell the father that the baby was HIV+ and had TB? What was their purpose in that? Or did they just honestly think that she was?

Yeah, they thought she was. (I assume the mother was HIV+ and the TB was secondary to that.) That clinic doesn't (or at least didn't when I was there) have a full-time doctor or anything.
