I'm looking for help with an idea. Specifically, I need a idea for a hero in my upcoming Mutants and Masterminds game.
(If you don't know what that it, its a superhero RPG.)

See, I've been helping out ziabandito555 out a lot lately, and he's writing a book about furry superheroes. (Okay, so it's kinda several books now whatever.) And while i've been ( Read more... )

For an example: the 49er!

A man granted powers from the inspiration and conviction of the people who went west during the California gold rush. Possibly a miner who found a magic lump of gold, possibly someone who just foudn that he embodied the can do spirit of the people going West.

Strong, a melee combatant, tough as nails and hard to kill. Probably a drunkard.

Good quote possibilities: "Back in my day, well okay back in my day we didn't have computers."

"Kids today!"

Bad things to avoid: Wabbit jokes, and devolving into a bad Yosemite Sam impersonation.

Tao and Stripes: Chinese American Ben Hu. Gifted with the Bronze Eagle pendant a strange American artifact and the jade Tao Te Tsing brackelt which he mounted the eagle on. the two gifts melded together their unique powers and ancestry and he beleives became stornger int he synthasis. the melting pot as he calls it. Aanyone who holds the eagle is gifted with the power needed to defend America (there have been other holders throughout history and there are those deeply uncomfortable that a "chink" has it now). The jade bracelet is marked with the entire Tao in carefully crafted script and imparts knowledge and wisdom and was smuggled out to defend it from the cultural revolution. Tao and Stripes found that his natural talent at martial arts was multiplied to the superlative and he has become highly adept at reading and understanding people and their motives. He has become a defender of American ideals wrapped in Chinese philosophy and martial arts. A living weapon of style and patriotism. Optimistic and bright and happy to defend all ( ... )

Green Star: Enviormentalist born out of the 1970's green revolution. An accident at a national park sparked his ability to control wildlife and plants and an empathy for all life. Healing powers and minor skill at controlling life. Bitter with the 80's but wishing to spring forth new growth in protecting the wild and brin the green into cities. Wishes to teach and protect. Hates environmental terrorists and polutters equally.

Ohhh Ohh... I like it.

But if your going for 'Hero' every good team needs the mythological team-mate. The Thor's and Isis' of the heroic pantheon.

So why not go for something a bit-off the cuff...

A hero version of Psyche, Demigoddess of Beauty, blessed or cursed with a visage that can grind the soul into loves bitter slavery... Yet equally stirs the ire and bitterness of those who dont find your particular gender all that attractive.

wanna have some campy fun.. make it a drag queen/king

Zia got my mind running here...

What about a Japanese-American woman (or man) who's earliest memories are growing up in the West Coast internment camps? Perhaps in her youth she was wild and angry at what the US had done to her family, but some back story has happened, and now she fights for the US so that nothing like that ever happens again.
