Yes, it must be a frontal face crop - profile shots, while not displaying one of the eyes, doesn't really show your ability to do a daring crop, which is one of this challenge's objectives.

I actually believe the icon itself is leaning slightly more to the magenta/purple tint of a magenta-red spectrum. If it was slightly redder, we could accept it - I believe a little colour balance might do the trick quite well :).
