I have fallen down the rabbit-hole that is 1700s-early 1900s cookbooks. It's a vastly entertaining place. I'm currently reading a book that is nothing but cornmeal recipes. Very entertaining.
I love them. I admit that this is the single biggest use of my Kindle - free cookbooks that range from late-Renaissance to the Great Depression. I wholeheartedly agree - a delightful time sink.
