Uterine Fibroids

I can't imagine being in pain is good for your work, or your private life. Still, the C word being what it is, I'm glad you didn't hear it.

Life is best for the living. Hope the other issues find a good solution soon, one that does not involve a permanent pill diet.

Ditto what Dave said -- I'm very glad to hear it's not cancer, but chronic pain is deeply shitty because that's something U.S. medicine still isn't very good with. "We can't give you these painkillers oh noes because you might get HIGH!" Pain and addiction are both troublesome, but addiction surely isn't worse than chronic pain. I've had a couple of friends who were taken off otherwise-effective antidepressants because the drugs were addictive. I wanted to ask, "Okay, these people have to take these medications every day, without fail, or they're likely to become suicidally depressed -- that was the plan before they turned out to be addictive. So what is the point in worrying over them being addictive if they might die without them anyhow?"

Yeah, I was feeling great every day when I was taking a Xanax every night, but have since switched to another med because of the Xanax addiction risk.

Sigh. Our health care system needs a SERIOUS overhaul. Why can't they just let adults be adults and take our own damn risks?
