So, still listening to a lot of k-pop.  Right now the two songs I'm most into are by a group called Kara.  5 member group, they're apparently more popular in Japan than they are in South Korea.  Like many k-pop groups, Kara has the requisite Korean American ringer to help out with English lyrics and English language press. It would be crazy. There's so much just...bizarre gossip in the Korean and Japanese press abut these bands and their members. Not just relatively expected stuff like who they're dating or contract disputes, but like...controversies about what foods they eat or what their nicknames mean.

Have you seen 2NE1's I Am the Best? Probably cause you're all hip to that stuff, but I rather liked it.

I have. 2NE1 is decent. If you get a chance, I'd recommend checking out Rainbow or After School.

Oooh. They're adorable. And have excellent isolations.

ETA: also the Step video outfits are not THAT bad for a coordinated pop group. They could be worse. Like that pattern in hot pink.

It's the blue outfits that I think are unfortunate. They look like a Project Runway challenge to make outfits from birthday wrapping paper from The Party Store.

Did you ever see the After School "Bang" videos I linked a while back? or Rainbow's "A"? They're an interesting contrast. In Bang, (either the Korean or alternate Japanese versions) the clothes are very "costume-y", no one would wear that stuff in real life, normally. But it's all co-ordinated in a way that I think works, for a music video. In "A", the clothes are...clothes, of a kind. Still maybe not what you'd wear to go grocery shopping...club wear maybe? But much more identifiably "clothes" than "costumes".

Anyway, I like both songs/all three videos.
