We have a similar pipeline running through our front paddock. 350 psi, the main (only) line for Wellington city.
Talking to one of the inspectors I was informed that if it broke and ignited it could burn for up to a month just with the gas in the line, even after they close the nearest valves.
The safety brouche we got in the mail one year included such helpful tips as "if the ground in bubbling, dial 111 immediately. Do not start any vehicles in the area."
I think the flame column could reach 100m high! Woo, that would be exciting!
