heidi8 did this a while back, and I commented on her post to participate, and then life got weird and I didn't get the chance to do it. But finally, I bring you the meme!
Well, I don't know how many of you remember the
WTF Dance, but this icon is a dildo-a-saurus from said dance. I found it in icon form and squealed out loud. Had to have it. Its use is light-hearted and amused WTF moments. Most often, it's used when I find some entertaining crack I need to share.
I'd have thought this one self-explanatory. It usually is used when I feel the express need for violence. Punching someone in the face can be so therapeutic, can't it? Also, it's so true, isn't it? That really is how we humans have been solving problems since prehistory.
This is part of my "llama llama duck" collection of icons. It goes with my classic llama llama duck and my River River Book icon. I don't use it because I don't like to use flashy animated icons that attract the eye away from what one is trying to read. I just like having it.
This is an icon that only music geeks get. I love it because it's so damned clever. The dot inside the arc is a symbol from musical notation called a fermata. A fermata over a note indicates that the note should be held as long as the conductor says. It's also called a hold. I use it when I (or someone else) need(s) a hug.
I forget what this is a zoom of. I think it's a turtle shell or something, though I do remember that it's from the artwork from a children's book. My minor collection (as opposed to matryoshka dolls) is that I collect children's books for their artwork. I also adore patterns of colours that exist for the sake of being a pattern of colours. Abstract. So the combination of the two made this too irresistable for me to pass up. This isn't so much of a thematic icon as one I use when I don't have an appropriate one for the situation. Or when I'm talking about colours or art.
This is one of my favourite icons. It has a very deep meaning for me. It's from Firefly, for those few not in the know. River tore some pages out of Shepherd Book's bible, trying to "fix" his bible. He tried to explain to her that you can't "fix" the bible, and tried to explain to her the symbolic nature of bibles. She finally understood, and came to return the pages to him, distressed that the pages were paper, and no longer part of the symbol. I use this in some theological posts and when I'm talking about things that go deeper than the sum of their parts.
This is an icon of fireflies. I love it 'cause it's so darned pretty. Animated, but not distractingly so. I use this in discussions of night and beauty and serenity.
Comment on this post. I will choose seven userpics from your profile and you will explain what they mean and why you are using them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so others can play along. Also, if there are any icons of mine that you want an explanation for, you can comment and ask, though this will also result in you getting seven icons chosen for you to explain.
