IN HELL, WE'LL GRIND THEIR BONES ★

Heine Rammsteiner. DOGS: Bullets & Carnage. Chapter 36. Appears to be around 20 to 25-years-old.
PERSONALITY
Most of the time, Heine Rammsteiner can be extremely hard to define and explain, but this is only because this kid has a ton of issues that are consistently bumping him and the makings of his personality up into the land of epic batshitville. And when I say batshitville, I really mean that Heine's sometimes kind of a little bit crazy and that he's sometimes kind of a little bit unstable. No kidding. Seriously. He's not the type to hesitate when he wants something and when he knows what he's after, and he's also not the type to think twice about putting a bullet in someone's head. It's practically second nature to him. He doesn't flinch at the sight of violence; he revels in it.

Still, beneath the hard exterior and the facade of not giving a shit about anything around him, he's actually a pretty decent guy. Sometimes. Even if he's occasionally mouthy and has a hard time taking other people's opinions seriously, he tries his best to do what he believes is the right thing to be doing, even if it's really not. Sometimes he can be a bit blunt and tactless, as he doesn't see the point in sugarcoating the truth. To him, facts are facts, and though he does sometimes tries to abide by them, he's definitely been known to bend the rules to his liking.

In all, he's quietly abrasive, sarcastic, and is definitely not afraid of being an asshole should it get his point across more clearly. He's also violent. Very violent, and he has a bad habit of invading people's personal space, though this is probably something he does as an intimidation factor. In any case, he really has no problems with pinning someone back against a wall and harassing what he wants from them. Second nature. He'll do what he has to.

He is literally terrified of women and will proceed to flip his ever-living shit if touched by anyone of the opposite gender, except in the case of Nill (and probably Lily, as well). While it is never revealed where this odd personality quirk stems from, it more than likely has to do with the fact that he murdered his younger sister, Lily, when they were both children. He won't harm anyone that reminds him of Lily, and this is probably why he seems to be okay around Nill, though it might also have something to do with her background and history relating closely to his own.

Though, in all honesty, saying that he's terrified of women isn't exactly correct, either, as he seems to have no problem being around them. To a degree, anyway. If there are a mass number of females, and if he is in a secluded area with said females, he will typically get very uncomfortable and will high-tail his scrawny ass out of there at the first chance he gets. The only time he really freaks out, though, is when he's actually touched by someone of the opposite gender. He has no issues whatsoever with speaking to a female, and though he's not exactly your classic gentlemen, he won't go out of his way to be a douchebag to them, either. So, no worries, ladies. As long as you stay a reasonable distance from him, he's not going to be ripping your head from your body any time soon.

Whereas Heine is definitely not lacking when it comes to physical strength, he suffers greatly in many other areas. He's constantly struggling with an inner dilemma that both limits him and pushes him further into an unstable state of mentality where he cannot cope with particular situations in his life that have already happened and that will continue to happen in the future. He wears his past bandaged around his neck in the form of a collar, and it is the main reason why Giovanni is able to so easily get into his mind and completely obliterate what little sanity he has left.

Really, when it comes down to it, Giovanni is pretty much the only person who is completely able to get to Heine as badly as he does. With most other people, Heine is easily able to brush off insults and anything else that may trigger the dog inside of him. With Giovanni, however, he's inherently weak, and he doesn't know how to properly arm himself against a person who knows so much about his past and who will do everything in his power to watch him break. Though Heine should really learn from this and understand that Giovanni is probably not someone he wants to get himself involved with,.he still somehow manages to find himself around him, anyway, and perhaps its his naivete or ignorance or arrogance that makes him believe he is able to handle Giovanni when all Giovanni is really doing is manipulating and playing with his emotions.

Heine's also rather terrible at asking for help. He doesn't think he needs it, he rarely ever wants it, and the only time he will ever ask for it is when he's basically backed into a corner and has no other choice. Again, this probably has something to do with his arrogance and with the fact that he believes he is much more capable than he really is in all actuality. Women, also, are another big weakness for Heine, and he cannot be touched by any of them without going a little bit crazy. He can be around them just fine, unless there's a significant number of them, and in that case, he'll try to find an exit as quickly as possible.

HISTORY
Sadly, Heine never really opens up entirely on what occurred during his early history. This is probably understandable, though, considering what we do know comes across as being rather horrific and tragic. It's assumed that Heine was born in Europe (somewhere in Germany, to be more specific) and that he was apparently homeless and living on the streets for many years with his sister, Lily. Unfortunately, at some point during his childhood, he was discovered by a group of scientists and taken beneath the city into a lab stationed underground, where he would be separated from his sister and experimented on for a project known solely as DOGS. Not much is known about this project, except that Heine and another child known as Giovanni were the prized products of it, and that they were basically genetically altered so that they adapted the characteristics of a dog. Meaning, when triggered, they would basically snap and go into a violent and deadly rage where they would rip through every living thing in their way. They were turned into weapons, honestly, with the intent to mass murder.

Heine was prized above all the other specimens, however, mostly because he was the most successful result out of all the other children who endured such horrific alterations. Something happened at one point, though, where Heine suffered a tremendous blow to his psychological state, possibly the result of all the experiments he had undergone, and he literally snaps and kills everyone within the vicinity, including his youngest sister. This single act is something that would affect Heine for the many years to come afterwards, and it is something that is constantly on his mind, something that haunts him wherever he goes, and it is the main reason why he cannot be touched by other women without it triggering the dog inside of him.

After escaping, Heine somehow manages to stumble upon a man named Bishop, and shortly thereafter, begins working with him. He eventually partners up with a man named Badou Nails, and though they tend to fight and bicker a lot, they feed off each other's strengths and weaknesses rather well and make a very good team. He also manages to rescue a girl named Nill, and she becomes one of the only females that is able to touch Heine without suffering the consequences for it. Although this is never proved in canon, this is probably because she reminds him a lot of his sister, and where he could not "save" Lily, he manages to save Nill, anyway, thus somewhat repenting for the crime of murdering the other. She could almost serve as a replacement for Lily, even, if it weren't for the fact that her murder is not something that Heine is easily able to let go of. Still, Heine works tirelessly to rediscover those who hurt him and many others and is constantly seeking a way to abolish them for good (unlike Giovanni, who wishes to bring Heine back "home").

ABILITIES
Because of the experiments he endured as a child, Heine is incredibly strong and very quick on his feet. He has no problem with physical pain whatsoever, meaning he can take a lot of damage without even really flinching, and because of his regenerative ability, he heals fast, anyway. He's also very desensitized to violence, which makes it very easy for him to kill anyone and anything that gets in his way, regardless of age or gender.

There's another side to his personality, as well, which is commonly known as the "dog" or the "Cerberus." The dog part of him turns him literally into a killing machine who runs through any obstacle that may stand in his way. He becomes much crueler than he normally is, and he doesn't pause to consider his actions or the consequences that may come of them; he does what he wants, when he wants, and if anyone has a problem with it, he'll find a way to shut them up. In this state, not much is able to stop him from hurting the people around him, and he becomes very much like a "hunter" who regards everyone as his potential prey.

As for personality strengths, when he's not being an asshole, Heine is actually an okay person to be around. He's very clever, and though he isn't one to go off on any scholarly rants about anything, he usually knows and understands what it is that he's talking about. He can also be gentle, too, but this is usually reserved for Nill, as she seems to be the only person who can draw that gentleness from his personality. He has a quick wit and not much is able to catch him off guard or offend him.
