ARRRGH! I still haven't finished yet and there is SO FREAKING MUCH I want to talk about! Thankyou for this post-- I love it and will be returning to it-- also, I agree with you in a number of places-- and I'm really glad you enjoyed the game
( ... )
Your April May icon is really cute! Shih-na's gloves are absolutely gorgeous, and Calisto's outfit is pretty cool too (especially THOSE EARRINGS. WANT.)
And yeah, I'd agree, Lauren is kinda batshit XD I guess most of her can be blamed on teenage hormones!
And yesss, there is some foreshadowing with Manfred and Miles, it's this bit where Miles says something, and Manfred has this horrible smile and says something along the lines of "Yes, that would be more entertaining, now, wouldn't it?" *shudder* Eeeebil!
And yeah, I think Kay talks a bit less about stealing things by the time 5-5 comes around, I certainly noticed Edgeworth wasn't telling her off as much about that. Like she's found her boundaries or something? Idno XD
Aha, you got me there - that is indeed a good point, Maya does have a different kind of logic, one that suits Phoenix more than Edgeworth. I suppose I was thinking more of the truly stupid things she says at times than the moments when she gives Phoenix the idea he was looking for. So yes, I agree, they're both smart in their own way!
I'll probably be able to read this better when I actually finish the game. Right now, I'm only on the start of 5-4, since I'm such a caring big sister and I handed the game off to my sis. I'm excited about finishing, because already I like this game better than I liked Apollo. I hate ragging on that game, as I hate ragging on anything in the Phoenix universe, but after nearly two years, I still haven't finished the last case. Couldn't be arsed. Damn shame.
Ah, but you were right about Ema. It was great seeing her again, and I prefer not to think about how she turned out in Apollo. Seems like everyone went downhill when they popped up in Apollo...
I CAN'T BELIEVE I FORGOT TO MENTION LANG AND HIS AWESOMENESS! :O I have added some in about him now XD And yeah, I know what you mean about AJ. It was just... a shame. I think that pretty much sums it up. It had the potential to be such a good game, and it just wasn't, because they tried too hard to make it like the previous ones. I think AAI was the best thing to happen to the franchise, actually - it needed that new direction. Poor Ema, she really didn't deserve that character mutilation she got!
Didn't you think young!Franziska was really cute, with her little riding crop and Napoleon complex?
I don't think Calisto got through law school. It's more likely that she was just inserted into the system by the smuggling ring thanks to a lot of forged paperwork. Same when it came to being inserted into Interpol. I actually had Shin-na pegged as Calisto when I had my first Confrontation with her and she had an "evil smite" sprite. You said that Shin-na was "cardboard" but that was what made for the perfect disguise as opposed to the over-emotional Calisto; it was only when she showed an emotion that I pegged who it was. The lack of backstory or identity is what's incredibly sad about Calisto: you get the impression that there is no real person any more, just a tool for the smuggling ring. She admits herself that she doesn't have a name.
Also, what did you think about Shi-Long? I'm thinking of cosplaying him, I thought he was really badass. :D
Young!Franziska was fantastic! :D And hey, that's a really good point about Calisto - I hadn't thought of it like that before now. This is why I love you guys leaving comments because it gets me thinking too!
