“I have a brother?” Blade asked with wide eyes.
“I’m you brother you dolt,” Brock glared at him.
“Another brother?” Blade corrected.
Rebecca merely nodded.
“What the hell? Why didn’t you tell us about this?” Blade yelled.
“I wanted to, I did, and I came close a couple of times, but I stopped myself.”
“No kidding.”
“So…our lost brother completes the prophecy?” Brock asked.
Rebecca nodded.
“How old is he?” Blade asked, suddenly excited about the prospect of having a long lost brother and wanting to know everything about him.
“He would be seventeen. His birthday is on Halloween,” Rebecca smiled sadly, as if in remembrance.
“Halloween,” Brock echoed, wrapping his mind around having another older brother.
“Where is he?” Blade asked, looking to his mom.
“I don’t know,” she whispered. “The last time I saw him was the day I gave him up for adoption, hoping to prevent the carrying out of the prophecy.”
“You didn’t stay in contact?” Jesse questioned.
“I thought it was best not to. Too many questions.”
“How are we going to find him? We don’t even know where to start looking,” Billy reasoned.
“Why would you need to find him?” Rebecca asked, lively once more, “You guys already defeated Soya.”
“You just told us we have a brother and you think we don’t intend on finding him?” Blade asked.
“Like you said, you don’t even know where to start.”
“Doesn’t mean we won’t try,” Brock quipped.
“Did you get notified when he was adopted?” Blade asked.
“No.”
“What did you name him?” Jesse asked.
“Please tell me it doesn’t start with a ‘B’,” Nace grimaced playfully yet truthfully.
“Of course it does! I had to stick with my theme,” Rebecca smiled shyly.
“Oh joy. We get to be even more confused,” Yushi smiled.
“So his name is?” Brock pressed.
“Basil, but he took on the last name of adoptive family and like I said, I don’t know who that is.”
“I’m sure we can come up with something. Toya should also be able to help in some way,” Christian chipped in.
“Yeah. He should have something up his sleeve,” Billy glared slightly, still getting over the fact that he was Soya’s brother.
“A middle name might help as well. Did you give him one?” Brock asked.
Rebecca nodded, “Phillipe.”
“Basil Phillipe. He sounds foreign, but that should give us a good start. So I take it that was the news you had to tell us?” Blade said.
“Yes that and-.”
“There’s an and? What else could there possibly be?” Brock cut in.
“Relax, Brock. This is nothing as drastic as you having a missing sibling,” his mother reassured him.
“That’s comforting,” Brock breathed, “Do go on.” He smiled.
“Knowing this was going to happen and that you all would find your soul mates,” she brandished an arm to the demon guys, “I knew they would be coming back with you, therefore, I have a house waiting for you,” Rebecca smiled.
“That’s great and all, really it is, but none of what you have said explains why Billy and I are part of this prophecy. I mean, it sounds more like it should be called the Prophecy of the Three Mages what with them being related, not only to each other, but with an actual Mage of the original Prophecy,” Jesse said while the others quietly rejoiced in the idea of their new living arrangements.
“That’s for your families to explain to you,” Rebecca said as she looked away.
“Our lives just keep getting better and better,” Billy sighed.
“I think I’ll skip going to see my parents. I’m sure I can already think of what they’d tell me. I’ll just replay what Mrs. Tyler said and change the names where necessary. I bet we’re related in some way too,” Jesse said.
“Probably,” Billy agreed, “but you’re right, I don’t need the specifics either.”
Everyone sat in silence, listening to the clock in the hall tick methodically. Rebecca had pulled the cupcakes out of the tins and had begun frosting them with buttercream while the others were left alone with their thoughts, probably a good number of thoughts.
“What do we do now?” Jesse asked out of the blue. “We could check out the new place and move our stuff in or try to find that brother of yours.”
“You all are already moved in,” Rebeccas said as she continued her work.
Quick glances all around.
“How? We just left our apartment, everything was still there,” Blade said.
“Of course it was! You all would’ve freaked is your belongings were missing. No, I had a few friends move everything once you had left,” Rebecca laughed.
“Well hey, at least we don’t have to worry about moving stress then. That’s always a plus,” Brock beamed.
“I say we go to the new place to start our search for Basil,” Billy voted.
“I second that,” Blade raised his hand.
“Okay. I guess we’ll be leaving then, mom,” Brock said as he stood to his feet.
“Alright then,” she smiled as she put her utensils down and rushed over to him to give him a hug, “You all can stand to stop over more often. If I’m not here then I’m at the bakery, you all are more than welcome to stop by,” Rebecca grinned as she gave each of them a hug, Nave thoroughly enjoying it while Siei was left stunned.
“Seeya later mom,” Blade called before shutting the door behind them.
Rebecca continued to smile as she watched after them. She sighed before turning back to her cupcakes deciding on them needing sprinkles next. Without moving, she opened the cupbaord with a wave of her hand and the bottle of sprinkles sailed to her waiting hand with the twitch of a brow.
