Dear Yuletide Santa 2012

Dear Yuletide Author,

If I don't know you; glad to make your acquaintance! Thank you so much for writing for me this year! I can't wait to read whatever you write; I'm sure it will be all kinds of amazing. I've included some likes and dislikes below, in addition to some entirely optional prompts.

I like: slash, femmeslash, and gen. On occasion, I'm good with het. This year, my fandoms aren't so big on the families, but I really, really, really like strong platonic or familial relationships - parents to children, siblings, friends. I like stories without easy answers, and I like stories that are character studies and I like stories that have plots. As long as there are lots and lots of emotions, I'm pretty easy, actually! I'm also more than fine with sexy sexy fic, especially when the characters involved discuss boundaries and consent and relationships like reasonable adults.

Which brings me to what I don't like: non-con, dub-con, watersports, scat, and humiliation are things I pretty much can't read. Humiliation includes secondhand embarrassment and the use of the word slut. I'm not against dirty talk, per se, but I need it to be character driven and non-shaming.

This year, my fandoms and what I'm looking for from them are pretty varied. Some of them are pretty easy to read up on, and some of them have a bit more background as far as source material/research goes.

The first one is: The Bagman's Gambit - The Decemberists
I can't express how much I love this song, and how much I want a story for it. The narrator is a secret agent of some kind; he clearly works for the government. The other person is also a secret agent, and if he or she works for the government, it's not the same one. I won't say too much more, because it's your story and your interpretation of the song, but what I would really, really like is either the story of the Narrator Agent's fall from grace or the story of the Other Agent's seduction of him. I'd especially like it if Narrator Agent is perfectly aware that Other Agent is using him, but is so caught up in this terrible destructive hopeless obsessive passion that he doesn't really care. And if you don't mind, I'd really like this one to be slash.

The second one is: 20th Century RPF
Okay, I know what you're going to say. Nellie Bly, Cora Strayer, Mounira Sabet, and Kate Warne were never in the same place at the same time, and half of them weren't even really alive at the same time, much less the same age! It is a sad fact. But they were awesome ladies, and what I'd really, really like is for them to be, a la The Bletchley Circle, a group of badass detectives and lady journalists who work together to solve crimes, or to fight evil, or - your choice. I want them working together on something, and never mind the historical accuracy! As far as romance goes, do as you see fit; femmeslash is preferred, het is okay, but I'd really like it if the focus of the story was on these amazing women doing amazing things.

The third one is: Literary RPF
Yeah, this year I'm really into RPF, apparently.
So Wilfred Owen and Siegfried Sassoon. Fantastic poets. And they actually met and had a strong influence on each other, which you can read about in Pat Barker's Regeneration. Honestly, for this one, I'd be perfectly happy with straight-up literary porn, desperate angry broken men having sex in a psych hospital, surrounded by poetry. Or an AU. An AU where Wilfred Owen does NOT die a horrible death seven days from the end of the first World War? That would be lovely. Imagine all the awesome things they could be! I mean, steampunk poets would be awesome. Just saying... Basically, I'd really like them in a romantic relationship. Of some sort or another.

Yours,

telyanofcelore
