Pleased to see you, and the lizard. What is the species? Did it get the fly? Is that a fragment of plastic bag overlying the leaves, or something natural looking like a fragment of plastic bag?

Tabitha brought me a mouse the other day. Not sure if this was a sign of spring.

I presume it's a Common Lizard, which used to be Lacerta vivipara but has apparently been moved into a new genus. I didn't even notice the fly until I was cropping the picture for uploading. And the strange shiny covering on the ivy leaf...? I think it's dead leaf tissue, but that's just a best guess.

What species of mouse was it?

Apodemus timorus or Apodemus anexcreta?

(Who says you can't have fun with Linnaean binomials, eh?)

Wonderful creature and beautiful photo, all the more appreciated because it's a singularity. I could feast my eyes. Thanks for this.

(Spring? I'll believe it when I see it. The temp here this morning was 12 degrees F = -11 degrees C.)
