No this is not about superheroes but it is I suppose an opportune moment to mention that I recently picked up a hardback copy of Watchmen for a mere quid in a charity shop. A bat in the kitchen (in Cheshire) flew into my face whilst I was standing still assuming it would be able to avoid me. I've never had a problem with them outside, though.

When my uncle was a headmaster in the Yorkshire dales, the job came with a tied house with bats in the attic. His daughter was terrified of them (because of the hair, naturally) and locals were puzzled by seeing the headmaster apparently playing tennis on the upstairs landing.

I have a feeling there was something I wanted to tell you recently, apart from happy birthday, but of course I can't remember what it was now. Nice to hear from you, anyway.

Taking a tennis racquet to bats would probably get you up before the beak these days, and damn right too.

And yes, I've posted even less than usual lately. Ongoing broadband problems (BT's fault according to ISP, ISP's fault according to BT) and hopeless devotion to my sims. (Latest arrival, you might be interested to hear, is one Jarriere d'Auron, great-grandson of Cally and Tarrant.)
