On Journal Writing...

I was writing a PM to Claire Lewis (a very bright and wonderful person), and we have been discussing how the self changes, and how you can look back on yourself at times and not recognize yourself, because you have changed or learned so much. This is a both wonderful and possibly nostaligic feeling. Therefore, I encourage everyone to keep a written ( Read more... )

I like it.

Also, sometimes...when it's really late, and I sort of go emotionally out of control, which usually only happens when I'm stressed out...I write things that I don't mean...or that I do mean but couldn't say...or something. I guess an example of that would be a couple days ago at like 2 in the morning or something when I quoted Lord of the Rings.....I was pretty stressed out! =D

Love!

I broke up with Shaun the other day. I am a horrible mess. I should do this. I've kept journals on and off, but it's always been more Flynn-style in the end: write things on whatever is nearest and save it somewhere. I have a great need to do a lot of introspection now. I'm seeing a therapist to help, and hopefully things will turn out well. I aspire to be able to self-analyze in a healthy way, like you do, instead of self-critisize the way I always have. It's gotten me nowhere healthy.

after my biggest breakup, i'd write love notes to myself each night before i went to sleep:

dear susan, i'm so proud you made it through another day. i will always be there for you. you are amazing.

love,
susan

it may sound crazy, but it is very powerful to separate your self into parts that can take care of each other. you learn to actively love yourself.

::sends love::
