Something that I pray I'll never forget. Ever.

The world is perishing around me.  It's as if we're all on the Titanic as it's sinking. But only Christians are allowed in the life boats. Why am I not trying to save as many people as I can?  Don't I believe that Hell is infinitely worse than anything I could ever imagine? I have no excuse, and I beg God to forgive me and make me care more every ( Read more... )

it hits me, for sure.

we're all caught up in doing things that will never matter in the large scope of things.

and not to justify that, but it bothers me that our society (even our christian society) throws so much on us. i mean we're supposed to excel in school, excel in sports, excel in a performing arts, be expected to join clubs or teams or this and that and go to this meeting and that meeting... read this and read that... school alone keeps us up at night. it just bothers me how our lives are filled with so much busy work. and even though we deal with so much, we must find time outside of that or really find the way DURING those things to impact our world as christians. i mean yeah, we should be christian examples through all that (beacons of light) but is it not true that when we have so much thrown on us, it's difficult to remember or be able to do that all the time? i know if we keep our faith and focus on God, we'll be able to succeed, but my faith and focus is thrown off sooo often when i have to deal with so many ( ... )

Amen! It's one of the reasons I can't stand some of Oprah: we're expected to "be good to ourselves" but serve others; be fun, flippant and in, but also up on current social and political issues; be healthy, fit and well-rounded, and care for others on a global scale! I seriously don't know how well-meaning people can swallow all that crap and not go crazy. At least Christians have God to give them the Holy Spirit and an eternal perspective on life and what truly matters.

But if you, Terence, meant that you wanted us to be 'hit' by that, and meant for us to feel humbled and chastened, then mission accomplished. It's an immense amount of not only informaton, but weighty knowledge that we are accountable for.

Sometimes I hate our nuturing Christian bubble for keeping us from touching even the small mission field that is the public school system, but it introduces us to amazing tools, such as Future Grace and great friends to reach the world. I sometimes justify (and sometimes rightfull so) tell myself that the world needs not ( ... )

gosh, we really need to think about this more. its truly disturbing. and it should be disturbing enough to radicallly get us kicking into high gear about sharing Jesus Christ. what's stopping us from doing that?

the spurgeon quote is good, as we talked about earlier.

I wasn't complaining about people dying, I was mainly focused on how willing we are to let them burn in Hell.

i know you weren't, neither was I. In fact... i was suggesting the opposite of complaining. I said it's a good thing.
