On plots.

Natalie again, and I've been meaning to do this sooner. Rereading the honesty meme, I can see that we need a change in plots so I'm opting to make this another forum again. If you remember a few months ago, we introduced the "Events Calender" to set up plots and events. Not only that, the past plots have become truly repetitive. Being that it's ( Read more... )

Maybe once every two weeks? 'Cause people get busy and threads take a while to finish out, and plots seem to take multiple threads. That's my suggestion.

Oh, definitely!

Another thing I've noticed, and I've actually been mulling this over since the honesty meme, but it seems like most/many of the plots I've seen since I've been here - and granted, that's only been a couple months - haven't really challenged our characters to do much else besides react. I know I've mentioned this in tl;dr ramblings on my own LJ, but I'm finding it difficult to develop some of my characters in meaningful ways. Does that make sense?

Well, OK, let me use personal examples - B as a character is very guarded, and before I did the reset on him, he was basically getting away with lying his face off to everyone - he's a damn good liar, after all, but in a city of mystical forces, I would hope something would force him to slip up at some point. Otherwise, he's just going to repeat the pattern this time around, which would be kinda pointless. Mello is less guarded, so I'm finding it a little easier to make my own development plots with him, but he too is more or less hanging out in the city, just reacting ( ... )

Overlapping...I think it depends on what kind of plots are proposed to happen at the same time. Like, two serious/major plots shouldn't overlap at all imo.

Being the sadist that I am, I'd really like to see more plots that affect the characters psychologically. O-or promotes character development. Not to say that cracky plots aren't fun, but it seems like those kinds of plots have a tendency to fade into the background the longer they happen for. I'm also pretty partial to plots that throw characters who normally wouldn't interact with each other together into some shenanigan or another.

I agree with the once every two or three weeks, mainly because of the people-have-lives thing. :)

I think they should overlap. Because with Poly it makes things more interesting, idk idk. I also think plots should be less pressure-y. There's sort of an unspoken OMG PLOT IS CITY WIDE thing here, where at Poly it's "Oh, you didn't participate in that one? No biggie!"

ALSO what's up with the app revisions?

One other thing in re: the current nightmare plot - I'm not really sure what's going on with it, haha. >_> Are the nightmare-afflicted characters supposed to be posting as if under attack here, or in their own journals, or ... ?
