Obviously, I haven't updated in ages, so here is my obligatory "I think I'll try and update more often for a while" statement. Actually though, I just feel like throwing a few thoughts out there, and I'll most likely keep updating precisely with the frequency that things occur to me that seem worth updating on. The thing I don't like about Occam's Razor or this corollary's is that what is meant by "likely" and "often" aren't particularly well defined. If cast in the light of "things to apply Occam's Razor to", then yes. If cast in terms of "I have a situation, the solution follows the Razor", this seems false. Your situation could be anything, including why the sun shines.

Heh, not a Crary, a Sean actually, I just haven't been posting for... two years.

Also, yes, that's another valid point. The corollary was intended as a sort of criticism or limiter.

Yeah, the tautological element is sort of what I was driving at, pointing out that the simplest conclusion is also the easiest to verify. On the other hand, when it is verifiable conclusions that you need, then Occam's Razor may be a useful guideline. Say, forming a court case, or attempting to establish the nature of a few of the more concrete relationships in a social group.
