Hi Vladiators!
Welcome to the
http://www.vladquigley.com newsletter and I hope you had a good start to the year.
I'm sorry there hasn't been a newsletter recently - it's all been "ding ding, all change, mind the gap" of late!
For health reasons it unfortunately means dropping the monthly online Varney the Vampyre comic, which has been a truly heartbreaking decision for me - and I am very grateful to all of you for all of your incredible support.
But it's not the end of the road for our fave fangy fella, not by a long shot! By the mystical rays of the silvery moon, Varney the Vampyre lives again!
It's definitely about time I started doing art exhibitions again - I haven't done a single one in London in five years & I'd really love to!
It's definitely early days, but if anyone personally knows any suitable London venues (preferably within Central London & suitable for a gothic art exhibition) please let me know as I'm open to offers.
Plus (for those unable to travel to London) after the first London one I can start looking further afield to other UK cities (hopefully including Northern Ireland, Wales & Scotland) as well as abroad (Holland, USA, Eire, etc). I don't want to commit myself too far ahead, but that's the overall idea.
Exhibitions won't start till 2007 as I'll need to make all-new non-nude art for them & I need to take it slowly for health reasons... the plan is the art will be a gothic mix of illustrations of Varney the Vampyre as well as comedy horror RedVamp art.
So for everyone who was promised cameo roles in Varney, these are still happening - only in poster sized illustrations rather than comic strips :-)
The three websites...
http://www.vladquigley.comhttp://www.restorationpunk.comhttp://www.varneythevampyre.com...will undergo dramatic changes over the next few months as will the online shop...
http://www.cafeshops.com/vladquigleyI promise I won't start deleting items from the shop till the end of the month at the earliest, so if there is anything you'd particularly like... please buy it now as it may well be your only chance and I can't guarantee it will still be available in February!
I appreciate this is quite a change to what many of you are used to from me, I don't think there's too many here who were around when I was an exhibiting artist. Anyway there will be lots of fab new art in the coming months & I will be here to keep you posted with developments!
In addition to the new Varney the Vampyre and RedVamp art, my old friend Sir Roger Moore (& his loyal webmistress Marie-France) would like some new Vlad art for his official website:
http://www.roger-moore.comI'll be working on that next month.
Roger's a London lad like myself - from just up the road in Streatham (pronounced "stret'm" ...or St. Reatham as he poshly calls it haha!), he's most well-known for James Bond as well as the highly camp Persuaders, and for his years of dedicated international service to UNICEF.
...Also his daughter, Deborah Moore, was such a massive British goth icon in the eighties... she was the stunning actress walking through a graveyard wearing a black velvet hooded cape in the Scottish Widows tv adverts. All fellow old-aged goths will remember her!
This is Sir Roger supporting me on his site from a couple of years ago, gawd bless him:
http://www.roger-moore.com/Vladquigley.htm SPECIAL NEWS: Meet RedVamp! Yes folks you can really meet the one & only Queen of the Gothic Models (& longest serving Vlad model) in February! The ONLY gothic model in the world who can truly lay any claim to being my & (the original gothic model) Vida Garman's true successor and she has undeniably paid her dues a hundred times over!
Meet her in person, have your photo taken with her, ask her questions, make her laugh; there will be signed autographs & Vlad merchandise!
Haunt X at the LAX Hilton, Los Angeles, USA. 18-20th February 2006
http://www.hauntx.com/Please book now to avoid disappointment!
Thanks for listening folks... As you were!
And Up the Fulham!
Best wishes
Vlad
