♛ in depth
Personality: The Doctor is an enigma of sorts. By the logic of TARDIS travel, he is timeless, and has possibly lived for technical thousands of years. To say he has a good amount of experience is an understatement. He has massive amounts of knowledge, and his intelligence is nearly inhuman. He is a professional at quick thinking, considering the dangers he’s had to find clever ways to evade, and is very adaptable to even the most bizarre of situations. The Doctor thinks he knows and has seen everything (and often seems to). So, if something is just a touch out of the ordinary, something is different, you can bet he is going to investigate it. He’s curious and driven by intrigue-- so much so that he sometimes puts himself at risk just to check that interesting thing out (because, more often than not, that “interesting thing” turns out to be some sort of angry beast, vengeance-seeking alien fleet, bloodthirsty creature, etc.).
With all that experience he’s had, the Doctor has also had to deal with a great amount of loss. He holds an unfathomable amount of grief and guilt for those he could not save and those that he has left behind. He has destroyed worlds and wiped out entire species. His power is well-known and revered by many across the world (and, possibly, beyond), and danger seems to follow him wherever he goes. There is a part of him that is darker, containing all that grief and rage. A constant traveler, the Doctor also tends to get very lonely at times, and craves camaraderie. Without companions, he seems to lose sense of his morals, and can become ruthless when angry.
Despite this, the Doctor’s disposition seems to betray his “Oncoming Storm”, “Destroyer of Worlds” reputation. He is consistently upbeat and lively in conversation and mannerisms, and seems to very much enjoy talking, judging by the way he can rattle on ceaselessly about whatever intrigues him. He is prone to drag on about subjects and often launches into outrageous technobabble in the middle of an average conversation. He tends to go off on tangents, interrupt himself, and place nonsensical, silly terms to describe certain things (i.e.: “wibbly-wobbly ball of timey-wimey stuff”, “it goes ding when there’s stuff”). Generally, he’s charismatic and full of enthusiasm, hiding that darker side of himself. A large part of him is also compassionate, and he can form strong bonds with people relatively quickly. He cares deeply for people, and will try to forge friendships with anyone that seems open enough. Often, what prompts that powerful rage in him are the times when the ones he cares for are in danger, or when innocents have been harmed.
On another note, considering all those species he’s destroyed for the sake of justice, the Doctor believes in second chances. No matter how horrendous the crime, the criminal will always be given another chance-- but that chance only.
Canon Background:
http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Tenth_DoctorAU Background: The Doctor’s background is just as mysterious as he is. He claims that he does not know where he comes from, but he is certain that his family is deceased. Despite his obvious El accent, he does not ever say that he comes from particularly anywhere, answering when pestered that he comes from “somewhere out there” or “pretty much everywhere”. He is, however, open to describing his homeland by small memories (i.e. “the sky is orange” and “there were silver trees”), though he never provides its exact location or name. For all anyone knows, he may not remember the exacts himself. One thing is known: the Doctor is not from present day, and has in fact travelled back in time from some distant future. Wherever his home is, it does not exist in the current time period.
As long as he can remember, the Doctor has been traveling, either through the cities and towns of the world, or through time itself in his TARDIS. He originally spent his nomadic time searching out people in need of help and providing his services and knowledge. Through these journeys, he gained a seemingly infinite knowledge of the world, how it works, and the place that living creatures have in it, as well as great empathy. He has become timeless in a way, unable to pinpoint his exact origins and age.
Throughout his journeys, he had many companions, all of which eventually left him. Some chose to leave for their own reasons, others were forced away by the Doctor... and a few were killed during the perilous adventures. The combination of all these losses has left the Doctor in a state of loneliness he seeks to repair.
Upon a certain journey, the Doctor’s TARDIS landed in the Floating Island by chance, where he learned more of the affects the atmosphere was having on residents, including the strange abilities they began to show. He was fascinated by it, and stayed for a time, studying the residents and qualities of the air. Eventually, a courier finally arrived to invite the Doctor to Estrasia as faculty (they apparently had been planning on it, but he's a bit of a hard man to track down).
Appearance:
(Rarely seen without a tie and a suit of some kind. He also often wears a long, light brown
overcoat, black tortoise-shell
glasses (especially during teaching hours), and tennis shoes. He's tall and lanky, standing at about 6 feet in height. His hairstyle is subject to frequent change, but tends to be messy.)
♜ permissions
Injuring/Maiming: Go on and try!
Killing: GOOD LUCK WITH THAT. In most circumstances, no-- not unless I've specifically discussed a death plot out with you.
Hugging, Kissing, etc.: Hugging is always good! The Docter loves hugs, and likely will give plenty of his own. ;u; As for kissing, that's okay too, but might get a bit of an awkward reaction.
Deaging, Genderswapping, etc.: ALWAYS
Mindreading: Being a telepath, the Doctor has a mind that isn't quite as easy to look into as a normal person's. He'll likely block you or push you out of his head if you try to read his mind without his consent.
