[have some dramatic reading music. EVA has turned to a tape recorder. One just like the one she recorded tapes for Big Boss on, years ago. The tape begins with 3 minutes of silence.]
I'm not sure where to begin. A lot has happened in the past few months.
Colonel Volgin. The time traveling. It's overwhelming. Not just Volgin, but Ocelot and Raikov too. They all claimed to have lived in the 60's, prior to coming here. Volgin claimed to have risen from the fucking dead. Although is that so surprising, considering what happened to Frank Hunter in the 90's? Dr. Emmerich and Raiden have changed, too.
I've been meaning to ask Bob about it.
[A long pause.]
She warned me about "the Russians," why didn't she warn me about this? It's hard to read us with nanonmachines, I suppose.
Snake. ...David is gone. And so is Ocelot. Other than Vianca, I'm beginning to feel ... alone- nevermind. I can talk to Dr. Emmerich, but I don't entirely trust him.
Raiden. I haven't been able to shake the things he told me about Big Shell in January from my conscious. Everything that he described had supposedly already happened, but I haven't heard a word about it. It makes me wonder if that's where Ocelot disappeared to. My Ocelot. To Big Shell and into the past. I know this sounds insane, but I wonder if Raiden could have visited an alternate universe?
There's something else that's been on my mind. ... I've forgotten everything that happened between March 4th and the 14th. There's an entry of mine left behind. It wasn't interesting to me, other than Miller's comment on an eyepatch. Others have commented on memory loss or noticed a change in everyone during those days as well. Is it just another quirk of the Academy's?
But after everything was over, Dr. Emmerich mentioned Liquid being around. I've been thinking. Was he really here? Could he possibly still be here?
[Sound of rustling paper. EVA begins to read.]
"Then who are you?"
"You've been talking to me all along," the man responded. "Snake." His voice suddenly changed, and I knew who it was. So did Snake.
Maybe I'm wrong. God, I hope I am. I noticed something was off about Kaz when I met him again in January. If I'm right, he's incredible at what he's doing. Takes after his mother... Hah. [Sigh.] If I'm right ... What is he up to? I'm not going to let him slip away with all my questions unanswered like Volgin did.
If I can, I'd like to gain Sniper Wolf's trust. Neither of them really know who I am. I will have the advantage. If I'm right.

Mother's Day is next month. I think I'll ask Vianca if she wants to have lunch.
