testing, testing...is this thing still on?

I kinda got away from fannish stuff for a while. I blame my kindle. I started reading a lot more books. I read all the Dresden books, and the Longmire books, along with a few other series. I finally hit an annoying book the same time Escapade happened. Hanging out with fans and going to panels of shows I like really jazzed me up again. I found ( Read more... )

Hi there! I have fallen in love with my Nook and I've been spending a LOT of time reading on it myself. I finally bought one about a year and a half ago when I found out I could download fanfic from AO3 onto it. It's fantastic! I also have been reading some of the Person of Interest fanfic from there. Sure it's no Stargate, but the show and the fanfic are interesting, and new ( ... )

Most of the fanfic authors have been picked up by some small presses, most notably Dreamspinners Press (DSP). They were at the last couple MediaWestcons, and I bought some of their books there. Some are great, some are good, some are so-so ( ... )

Thanks for the recs. I see that many of these authors were SGA writers; that's probably why I didn't know about them. I will read Fair Game. It certainly has good reviews.

It was one thing to go to the Creation Cons when the show was still on because there was new stuff to hear the guests talk about. Nothing new lately...except for that new SG1 tablet/phone game that's suppose to be out this month. It looked cool:

It's great you can cut back on your hours! Happy reading! What did they do to your pension? Best to skip the banquet.

They froze it. I've been there for 36 years. The pension really starts to build once you hit the 50s so having it froze when I was 54 was hard. Someone that work a couple of years less than me, but was older, retired two years ago...with over $100,000 more than what I got frozen at. It hurts and I'm quietly furious at their theft. I can still contribute to their new 401K, which I do, but it will no way replace what was lost. This is why unions are a good thing because when it comes down to it, if the agreement isn't in writing, management will take away the benefit and say, "sucks to be you."

*hugs*

My Nook primarily gets used for fanfiction just like the computer. LOL Though, I have been catching up on trying to get all of M.R. Sellars' Rowan Gant novels downloaded to it.

Sounds like the hour cut will do you a lot of good.

Big Bang Theory and the Daily Show are on my must watch list, as well. :) BBT is really the only network show I watch.

The Sellar's books sound interesting. I just skimmed the blurbs for one or two of them. Which book starts the series?

Those are good shows. Looks like Raj may get a girl friend. Figures it would be someone more broken than him.

Harm None is the first. Then Never Burn a Witch.

LOL Yeah, really...though I was kind of liking the idea of him and Stuart. Still think he should at least be able to talk to Penny by now...she's like a sister at this point.
