The Simple(r) Life

In an effort to spend less this year, I'm going to be purchasing the bare minimum of new music and will instead be catching up on all of my CDs. I probably won't finish all of them in one year, but it's time for me to revisit what I already have. As for new tunes, I can listen to nearly all of it for free on Grooveshark, but unless there's an ( Read more... )

Sounds like a good plan! I, too, need to buy fewer books and focus on those I already own--my problem is that it's such fun to visit bookstores!

checking out less things from the library, FOR FREE, is part of your "cost-efficient" life? haha I know, that probably falls under the simpler category.

I am also trying to get through a bunch of books that have just been collecting dust.

also, don't buy box wine. shame shame. that is cheaply made crap. If you are buying things to be "conscience" buy from some local vineyards, I'm sure they have some fab Bordeaux blends, and also some native muscadine stock. By imbibing local you will help with allergies come spring/fall, and support your local economy! Also taking a trip to vineyards not far away is a fantastic date to surprise your wife with.

Yeah, reducing my # of checkouts is purely to reduce clutter, make items available for others, and more easily track my next reads/watches.

It's fun to read the tiny paperbacks on our shelves, which feel so different from the new hardbacks I've been reading. The small font seems ancient!

Thank you for the wine advice, Mr. Sullivan. But I thought this was your son's blog? I know that box wine isn't close to what's produced by local vineyards, but I'm in it for reduced waste. Throwing away glass bottles makes me ill, but that's all that our local producers offer. We won't entirely neglect the good stuff, just as I won't exclusively drink canned beer, but for the most part, I'm going green with my alcohol.

How's your novel coming?

i think you are doing more harm to the environment, and yourself, by drinking boxed wine, there has to be a better way! haha

novel had to take a back seat for a little while, but this week got some new blood and ideas. slowly slowly
