What American accent do you have?

Neutral. Not Northern, Southern, or Western, just American. Your national American identity is more important to you than your local identity, because you don't really have a local identity to begin with.

Take this quiz now - it's easy!

Heh, they're probably just picking up on your lack of dialect. To their ears, I'm sure it sounds funny. I can tell you this - you don't sound like the characters in Fargo, which would be extremely Wisconsin/Minnesota.

Hooray for tests while updating computers (I'm having to update for the second time today!)

I got Northern. I thought mine was more generic than that, but I guess it's a little different than "TV standard accent". Some people would always give me shit over saying "wash" as "Warsh". I'd tell them to lay off, it's a regional quirk. They are the wierd ones!

Tough quiz though. I had to say it out loud (and look strange in the office) and even then I don't know if I answered right on some!

I always find the 'ol pop/soda thing fun too.

Well I have a Mid-Atlantic accent. Sometimes called a Philly accent. They said I could possibly be mistaken as a New Yorker who rhymes on and Dawn.

It labeled me, correctly, I might add, as having come from the west coast. I've always found it odd that people around here tend to guess I'm from somewhere in Canada based on my accent, and this quiz substantiated that by saying alternate locales that I could be from included some place in Canada (forgive me, I took the quiz yesterday and forget which part). So maybe there is something to that... I always just thought I sounded generic.

I definitely had to say a bunch of the word pairings out loud to choose my answers, too. My roommate popped her head in to make sure I was Ok at one point as I was talking to myself.
