Summary: Tsujimoto can't make Baba's party; Shouta's not impressed. A compromise must be reached. 'Sashiire' simply is some kind of refreshment brought to a rehearsal hall or theater for the staff and cast to enjoy, usually by a friend of the cast or former staff/cast member.
"So, I won't be able to make it to Baba-chan's party tomorrow," Tsujimoto ground out, brows furrowing as he released a hiss of relief when Shouta's fingers dug into his shoulder muscles with a bit more force than he'd been expecting, thumbs working circles through the thin shirt he'd tossed on underneath his jumper that morning. "Got a--ngh--audition." He let his head loll forward, breathing in deep as his doubles partner continued to massage his upper back.
Behind him, Shouta frowned, not at all pleased with this bomb being dropped out of thin air--and just when he'd gotten Tsuji-kun in the perfect mood to ask him if he could borrow one of those racy little Golden Pair anthologies they'd bought (out of pure amusement, mind you) at Nakano Broadway a few weeks back, just to prove to his cousin that he was so famous enough to have doujinshi about him. "But--the whole team's going--!"
"I know," Tsujimoto reasoned, a whine working its way into his voice, "But--it's the only time they could take me, and Baba-chan understands. I've already promised to treat him to yakiniku next time we go out, and you're all gonna be so busy partying and trying to keep Toshi from setting his hair on fire or something that you won't miss me at one get-together--"
"I'll miss you," Shouta pouted petulantly, leaning forward and settling his chin on Tsujimoto's shoulder, pressing them together chest to back. Across the rehearsal hall, Ebo and Akki were running through a few moves from one of the new routines under Taito's tutelage, with Toshi looking on, bored, and making occasional remarks that were likely unecessary and definitely unappreciated. Rehearsals were drawing to a close; they were headed to the theater tomorrow to start blocking in the hall itself, now a familiar routine repeated over the years, and then Thursday would be opening night, the beginning of a long, drawn out end. "Baba-chan's stupid anyways; he's supposed to make you feel guilty."
Tsujimoto chuckled, leaning back a bit and closing his eyes. "You're doing a good enough job of that on your own, as I see it."
Shouta pushed him away, making him scoot a bit further down on the bench, then crossed his arms over his chest. "Good, then."
Tsujimoto twisted to face him, rolling his eyes. "Shouta, now you're just being ridiculous."
He just shrugged. "Is it a good part?"
"It's an okay one."
"Are you the star?"
"I don't have the part, first of all, but no--I'd be a secondary character."
Shouta sniffed. "Doesn't sound like it's worth missing Baba-chan's party, then, to me."
Across the hall, someone called out, "Tsuji-chan~" in a high falsetto, but didn't follow up, and Tsujimoto quickly brushed it off. "It's a job; those are kinda necessary in this business. And--" He poked Shouta's arm with enough force to make the other boy's frown deepen as he reached up to rub the spot, offended. "--I hear someone's already got his next gig lined up in...what was it, April?"
Shouta's cheeks flushed. "Hirayama-kun needs to not talk about stuff that hasn't been formally announced yet." He glanced over at Tsujimoto out of the corner of his eye. "...And you're coming to see it, just so you know."
"The last time I promised to come see your show I wound up in it."
"So?"
Tsujimoto rolled his eyes and pushed himself up off the bench. "Of course I'll come see it."
"Bring sashiire."
"Oooiii," he laughed, hands on his hips. "Since when did you get to be so bossy? This isn't a very good partnership."
Shouta jumped up as well, stretching his arms over his head to work on the kinks from sitting hunched over for so long. He glanced over at Taito executing a complicated series of twists and turns that he himself still hadn't gotten down with only a few days to opening night. Dropping his voice, he replied simply, "No, but I think it's a pretty good relationship, still." One look back over at Tsujimoto told him the point had been made. "I want choux creme pastries."
"You won't even start rehearsals until we're done with the musical; how am I supposed to remember that?"
"By having me remind you eeeevery day."
"Uh huh. And what about my rehearsals?"
"You haven't even gotten the part yet; you said so yourself."
Tsujimoto's mouth flapped open a few times, aware he'd been caught. "Well--whatever, if I get it, then. You'll bring me sashiire?"
Shouta just started traipsing across the hall to join Taito and the others, tossing back idly. "We'll work something out, I'm sure."
