I did ye olde drabble meme on my journal the other day, and
giving_ground asked for a D1 drabble. So I am proud to present it here! It turned into a double drabble (at 188 words, I figured it was easier to add 12 than lose 88), but I hope you enjoy it!
No warnings, except for Niou's favourite subject. (Control yourselves - it's maths. *watches audience flee*)
All comments welcomed! ^_^ (Also, please beware cross-posting. *cough*)
Enjoy, and please comment if you do! :)
Yagyuu had never seen a twelve-sided dice before, and didn't know why Niou was suddenly brandishing one at him.
"I know you've been struggling to decide what to do after graduation. But it's far too important a decision to rely on reason," he said, rolling the dice between thumb and forefinger. "If it's prime, you go to your first choice of uni. If it's divisible by three, you go pro on the tennis circuit. If it has a whole cube or square root, you go marry that girl your parents have lined up."
With only a moment's hesitation, Yagyuu replied smoothly "And what if it's a ten?"
Niou looked so unexpectedly serious that Yagyuu for a moment understood how their opponents must feel, seeing that stare from across the net.
"If it's a ten, you come with me. To Australia." Niou wanted to go back-packing, see how many poisonous species he could antagonise and survive.
He turned away, and rolled the dice.
"…What is it?" Yagyuu heard himself asking, despite himself.
When Niou turned back to him, he was smiling, the dice in his palm. "Does it matter?"
And Yagyuu knew, with crystal clarity, what he was going to do.
