A postcard, arriving entirely by magical means - although mundane would have served equally well - landed in the box labeled neatly with the name "Hino, Rei" in the cheery postal center of St. Catherine's School For Girls. Hoping to hear from her grandfather, or at least to clear out some of the fan mail Queen Rei-sama still occasionally received from former classmates and shrine patrons, the raven-haired schoolgirl strolled into the campus mail center.

Idly flipping through various postcards and letters, Rei quietly scanned them all in general without bothering to read them right then and there. As she browsed her mail, the kanji for "priest" and "special training" and similar phrases immediately seemed to leap off one postcard in particular. Her hopes immediately shot up when she thought it was from Grampa, and then fell slightly until she saw the last line and exactly who it was from.

"Utena?"

A broad grin graced the shrine maiden's face as she almost dropped the other cards from the surprise. "I can't believe it. After that whole annoying situation with that demon and all, she left so suddenly I didn't even know if she went through with the training, or just got a transfer back to Ohtori, or simply wanted to take the summer off ( ... )
