[ Like several other entries on the Network today, this post opens with a video of a memory. Chrono, in his sealed form, is in a large crowd watching a clown perform. Rosette runs up and scolds him for wandering away from the group...
only to realize she's gotten herself lost. Chrono takes her hand and leads her out of the crowd so they can be found easier by their other friends. Together, they look out over the lights of San Fransisco at night, and Chrono's mind drifts off to memories of his past...of sitting on the ledge of Eden and looking out over the towns below, as Mary comments on the view by saying--
"It's like each life is its own life." Chrono turns and stares,
shocked that Rosette echoed Mary so perfectly. Chrono does his best to brush it off,
telling Rosette vaguely of the memory he was thinking of, but for some reason it causes Rosette to burst out "You're no fair! You never change!" After she does, Chrono jumps up on the bar separating them from the edge of the hill, putting his hands in his pocket as he balances easily. Straightening, he closes his eyes with a smile,
the evening wind blowing through his hair and coat, and begins to speak.
"There's nothing that doesn't change...if you look at it as one long cycle. Starlight takes tens of thousands of years to reach Earth. The lives of the people living under those stars change over time... And it's the same for me. Ever since I woke up, I've changed a little each day. These four years mean a lot more to me than the fifty I spent asleep...thanks to you."
He gives her a warm, gentle smile, not bothering to hide the soft blush dusting his cheeks. He doesn't know if she understands what he's trying to tell her or not--but he hopes, at the very least, that she can feel his gratitude.
The video starts to stutter, like a projector with the film on wrong. As the image goes away, the audio catches one last thing that Chrono is saying--
"
I'll have to tell you a story some day..."
[As the video ends, Chrono's voice speaks again--older and deeper, indicating he's in his current form.]
What's the point of this?! What's the point of making me remember? I know what today is! I don't need to remember her--her scent is all over my clothing and my desk. I don't need a vision of her, I can close my eyes and pretend she's here.
But she isn't. She's gone. She left me. She's not coming back no matter how much I wish she would! Am I not giving this stupid City enough negative emotions to feed on?!
If you're not going to give her back to me, then leave her out of your damn curses!
((OOC: I know the format's a biiit tl;dr, but I didn't really want to do it based just off of the scans since I really dislike how the scanlators translated that scene. If you're wondering, the dialogue I used is from ADV Manga's translation.
Chrono has no idea his memory and his outburst is up on the Network. I know this is a bit odd for a "heartwarming" curse, but this was the best scene I could think of from before when I took him, and White Day was actually the day he planned to propose to Rosette, so he's been upset for most of the day and just covering it up well.))
