And do swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes' and your 'No' be 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one. --Matthew 5:36-37
lol sorry that's not what i was implying. using hell in that context is ok. i was just backing up my reasoning for always getting on to people for cussing b/c some people think it's stupid when i do that but that's what i believe so
that verse in the Bible is not talking about cussing, its talking about saying something like, "I swear to God that i'm not lieing", "i swear on my life that she likes you", etc. BUT that's not saying cussing isn't wrong.... i personally do not think the actual cussing isn't wrong, or that being angered is wrong, the only time I think it's wrong is when we use it to put down others, or in a hateful way, etc. BUT! (once again) saying damnit is the most serious curse u could utter because that is saying you want somethign to go to Hell, the reality of which none can fathom, and, saying God damnit is the most blashphemous (sp?) thing you can say because by very nature and promis God is in the business of saving, not damnation, and any utterance otherwise is purley evil. back to my original "cussing isn't wrong" though... the only way i personally belive that makes other cussing wrong is when it offends someone else and causes them to sin... read Mark 9... specifically verse 42.."And if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe
( ... )
in James it says, "with the same mouth we praise God we curse our brothers, and this shall not be." take it in whatever context you want. but it says cussing shouldn't happen.
