.... and I have to say, though I really liked the book, the ending completely ruined it for me (just finished reading it a minute ago, so that is what is most clear in my mind) On the whole I'm very happy with how the book turned out, but what was up with that horrible epilogue? WHY oh, WHY did she decide to name all the kids like that? It was like a badly written fanfic, I cringed as I read it. And I won't get into the whole Ginny thing, because I'm quite bitter about that, slash fangirl that I am, but... well..
The ending as a whole could have been left more open. I realise she wanted to give everyone a happy ending, but it felt like she just kind of left everything there, lots of questions unanswered and put an epilogue on it just to please all the readers wishing for closure. But I wanted to know more! More about Snape, Bellatrix, the Black family, the Malfoy family's part in everything, more about Grindewald and Dumbledore (slash fic, anyone? ^_~), what happened to the Dursleys, and how George coped without Fred.... I just have so many unanswered questions that I feel the ending quite inadequate.
On the other hand, the DracoxHarry moments were, of course ♥ , Dumbledore's whole background was very fascinating to learn of and I liked the scene in Dumbledore's office with Harry lying on the floor contemplating his fate. Actually the whole bit at Hogwarts was just amazing, and though I'm sad (and quite angry!) that she killed off Snape the way she did, I'm glad Harry at least cleared his name in front of everyone.
She followed her pattern of having the last fight at the end of the school year as well, didn't she? Sometimes it felt like time moved on with the Golden Trio doing nothing but running around aimlessly just to waste time. They didn't get a whole lot accomplished on their quest, which surprised me actually. They had leads they just didn't follow up on, or waited with to follow up. When they arrived at Hogwarts in the end and talked to Neville it just felt like they at Hogwarts had accomplished more than Harry had, which I suppose is silly of me to think, but that's what it felt like.
I wonder why she killed so many people though. Lupin, Dobby, Fred, SNAPE, Mad Eye, Tonks, Hedwig... Some of the deaths seemed so unnecessary (FRED!) I never thought she would kill Lupin. It would be too cruel, I thought, to leave Harry with no ties to his father's little gang. At least Hagrid survived, and I was certain he would die.
And Percy came back! Dear little Percy came to his senses like I always knew he would! (<--lie!) now he can live happily ever after with Oliver ♥
... and speaking of that, I refuse to give up Harry/Draco! I don't care if they're married to women, let them have had an affair on the side or something, but they will always be OTP in Harry Potter fandom for me! (at least now that she killed Harry/Snape for me T_T)
