[ MOD post ] Something new...

Oct 03, 2006 20:28

It's been about six months since this community was started [as I'm just realizing] so I thought a little change was in order. So how do you guys like the new layout? It's my first time working with the S2 system so please just bear with me if it's not up to par. ^^;

In any case I think it looks nice. :D

EDIT: Everyone seems to be having problems ( Read more... )

Everyone seems to be having that problem. -_-'

Why can I see it and no one else? >_>;;

I know absolutely nothing about the S2 system...but if the black-and-gray curves are set to be the background of one box (1) and the header is the background of another box (2), then Box (1) is over box(2), but underneath post boxes. Ie, conflicting backgrounds, and the black-and-gray is currently winning. XP

Like I said, I don't know S2, but I do get CSS. I'd style my own LJ except LJ has crazy-ass < div > and junk.

I see...but that doesn't explain why some people can see it while others can't. I showed it to my RP group last night and they were able to see the header image. But they seem to be the only ones.

And last night when I put it up I could see the top banner on my computer but when I took a look at school I couldn't see it.

LJ does have some crazy-ass codes and crap. This is why I wish more features in S1 would work in communities. I have no problems with S1. -_-'

There's also browser and operating system differences. My default browser is Opera, and a lot of LJ layouts are Majorly Screwed Up in Opera (probably because of LJ's crazy-ass recoding of CSS). Then there's Firefox and IE and Macs and PCs; and while S1 format is in general okay cross-browers/operating systems (as I've seen), S2 format, with people's own coding and CSS styles screws up royally across borders. XP

What I kinda wish is to learn the LJ coding for S1 format and then selectively override them in S1 format, because I think S1 format is more stable.

That's what I was thinking, about the browser setting differences. I wanted to be sure though. Well, in any case I have the screenshot of the header. -_-' -points up- What do you think?

I'm better with S1 [take a look at my own LJ and see for yourself] but the overrides for community layouts seem to be limited to only a select few. The first layout I used was supposed to look slightly different and more clean cut but alas, some overrides I tested out on my own site didn't transfer over when I applied the changes to the community. :/

I like the colors and borders, even if I can't see the picture. ^_^ And LJ is even wonkier than usual nowadays, so don't feel bad, tao-chan.

-points up at the provided screenshot of the header- Doesn't it look nice, ne? Why is LJ being so mean? ;_;
