Hah, I did it

Hotaru shook her head at what she was about to do: make the biggest fool of herself. Well, of course, she didn't HAVE to, it's not like anyone was making her (although Chochi and Chi were encouraging her, which was why they were waiting in the bathroom giggling at Hotaru's back as she hesitantly put more distance between them). It wasn't even that big of a deal; she saw him everyday. All she had to do was give him the Valentine that was being held tightly in her trembling hand. She could even slip it into his book. It didn't matter, just so long as the damn thing was delivered.

It didn't help running into Yuusei and Soren who were talking to him just a second earlier. Hotaru became flustered when they snickered at her, whispering things like, "Good luck, Hotaru-chan" and "Tell me how things turn out, I need something to laugh at after school."

"Oh, by the way," Yuusei said quickly, turning back to run to Hotaru, pulling something out of her bookbag. She winked. "I borrowed this from him, but he said he needs it back right away, since it's not his. Maybe you could give it to him for me?" she smiled innocently, with a hint of malice intent in her batting eyes.

Hotaru sighed, thinking it was a stupid idea, but accepted the book anyway. Then rolled her eyes and turned her back on her fellow classmates that burst into laughter. Then she continued her walk down the hall, and looked down at the book.

Philosophy for the Greater Mind...? Sounds like a tough read... she thought, slipping her small note into the front cover of the book, then closing it with an inaudible thud.

"Lovely," she whispered to herself when she saw that the classroom that she'd entered was empty. She walked over to the teacher's desk and gingerly placed the book down, then shifted it around until she was satisfied with it. Smiling to herself, she began to make her way out, until she heard 2 voices, undeniably male. And - she gasped - one of them belonged to HIM!

Quickly, before her presence could be detected, she threw herself into the broom closet near the door and held her breath. The voices entered the classroom a second later, laughing.

"That has to be the most normal thing that you've ever said all week," one of the voices chuckled, floating away from the closet in which Hotaru was hiding. She cracked the door open enough so that she could see what was going on in front of her. "Oh - is that my book?"

"Hm? Oh, oh yeah, yeah, but I wasn't done with it. One of the students wanted to borrow it for a little while. Guess she's done with it," the other voice said sheepishly, its owner rubbing the back of his head with his hand. "I'm not, though."

"Fine, you can borrow it for a little while longer. But I need it back, I want to assign something to the class from it."

"Yeah, yeah, okay, okay. I'll finish it soon."

The male to whom the book belonged to gave his fellow staff a I'll believe it when I see the book on my desk tomorrow look, and sweeped out of the room, leaving the remaining teacher to open up the front cover of the book, and Hotaru to stare out with wide eyes and a wildly beating heart.

The teacher blinked at the note that he'd picked up, then smirked to himself. "Ahhhh, Jaynie, Jaynie, Jaynie..." He ran his fingers through his hair, a sort of arrogance overwhelming his smile. "I always knew she had the hots for me..." With one last chuckle to himself, Emo Asian enthusiastically pulled the book into his hand and walked off, with a spring in his step. Leaving Hotaru to remain where she was.

"...oh my god... I'll never be able to live this down..." she hissed to herself, remembering all the people who were waiting for a recap of the event as she slid down against the closet door in embarassment.
