There she sat. Her green eyes were blinking rapidly as she stood outside Miss Jeka's door. She fiddled with her plaid skirt a little then looked through Miss Jeka's door again, sighing. She held a valentine in her hand. It looked just like all of the other cute little photoshop valentines floating around Tenshi High, but it has a meaning that goes way back.
In 2001, Bee was just a quiet little girl. She was quite shy around strangers, and she was not one to approach others. In other words, no where near coming out of her shell. One day, she was introduced to a lovely girl named Jeka. They became close friends instantly. Bee had never had a close friend where she could tell secrets and be wild and crazy until Jeka. She owes a lot of who she is today to her.
So she stands, valentine in hand, waiting for Miss Jeka to come out of her classroom. Nearly half an hour had gone by. Bee had gotten bored and propped herself against a locker. Ten more minutes passed, and in this time, she pulled her long brown hair into a ponytail and managed to change out of her skirt into some comfortable jeans. All of a sudden, the door opened. She let out a sigh as she rolled her eyes at her friend /teacher who was known for taking her merry little time with everything. She looked up at Miss Jeka and raised her eyebrows as she cocked her head slightly. The blonde woman in the doorway copied. Miss Jeka then said, "Dude, what are doing? You know I had all of these papers to grade. If you were waiting so you could talk to me, you could have just come in there and helped!" Bee knew she was not actually grading papers. She had seen Miss Jeka doze off several times before her head finally went down on the stack of papers on her desk. She was in that state for nearly fifteen minutes before suddenly waking up, shoving all of the papers into her bag(including the one that got stuck to her forehead), and gallopping to the door.
"Well...", Bee started. But she stopped herself from going on She took a deep breath, looked down one end of the long hallway, then the other. "I don't know anyone here! Gah! No one likes me... I didn't get any valentines, and you are the one who means the most to me here. So... here!" (I guess you could say, she still is not one to approach others) She held out the valentine and sulked her head. Miss Jeka took the note form her hand and read it. Bee hoped this would remind Jeka of the years of fun they had before she went off to teach. Maybe it would even remind her of the valentine she gave her in 2003, with a poem in it, and a drawing from Berkey.
Miss Jeka squealed. "Ahhhhh! Bee!"
"I didnt want to feel dumb because I have no other friends here. But no one ever specified that valentines can only be for your crush."
"True." They embraced in a friendly manner then began to walk down the hall toward the exit. Once they reached the big double doors at the end of the hallway, Miss Jeka walked out to her car, turned to look at the face of her innocent, yet glum friend, and left.
Bee stood there for a moment and thought to herself. Maybe next year she would have a real valentine. Realizing she was the only person still at the school, she began to walk toward her house which was only a few blocks away. The wind blew in her face, and she began to think again... maybe this stupid "holiday" wasn't so bad afterall. But then she thought back to all the years she spent alone, with that loneliness being multiplied by a thousand every year on that one day. Though, she knew she wouldn't be feeling like this if she actually had someone special for this day. Then! A revolutionary thought struck her dead in her tracks. "I am putting way too much thought into this! Valentine's Day is for losers! Or... it's not for losers... oh god, there I go again! I just wish...(a.d.d)... oh my god! I left all of my books in the hallway! Crap! and my skirt!" This is just a continuation of her stream of bad luck. "Gah, this day sucks!!!"
