With gentle, precise hands, Taiitsu laid the Raiju containing Fugen's soul into the chest cavity of his new body and connected it into place. The sphere began to hum and pulsate with light like a heartbeat as he closed up, sending lifelike warmth throughout the rest of the body and causing it to glow faintly. The glowing had alarmed him at first, but after he'd seen it in all of the first few completed bodies and run several tests, he'd concluded it was a normal, if bizarre, side effect of the rebirthing process. The light out of his eyes, Fugen could barely make out the hazey figure over him. The pulse in his ears faded, his hearing beginning to grow clearer, recognising the voice speaking to him.

His bangs were itching in his face. He wanted to brush them back, but his strength still failed him. Instead he blinked, trying to will his eyes to focus.

Gradually the shapes in front of his eyes took form. As he finally made out the form of Taiitsu smiling at him, his memories started to flood back to him. The Houshindai slowly dying before his eyes, the explaination of the process.

How he'd agreed to be one of the first out. If anybody was going to get hurt by this process, it would be him, he remembered saying.

He closed his eyes, trying to block out a headache that was starting to form.

"Weak..." he answered softly.
