More later when I return

I'm glad Terri Shiavo died, let the poor woman move on to whatever is next after this life. Whatever it is has to be better than laying in a brain dead state, unable to fully enjoy life because you're hospitalized with a feeding tube shoved down your throat. That's no way to live...and I think her parents were being incredibly selfish by forcing ( Read more... )

Wow. That's incredibly heartless. I think it was incredibly SAD that they STARVED HER TO DEATH. That's not NATURAL. That's torture. Sure, I'm glad she's moved on, but for God's sake don't act like you know what's going on in other people's hearts. She wasn't brain dead, she was brain damaged. She was able to breath on her own and her heart could beat on its own. She shouldn't have been forced to live but then again, though she was balemic, no one should be starved to death either. So understand why people were so mixed up about the whole thing and remember that your opinion isn't the only one that matters.

I'm glad she's dead, and I agree with Blackledge that she shouldn't have been kept alive for fifteen years as a vegetable. Something about that does seem selfish to me.

Agreeing with Angela, I don't like that they starved her to death. There are more humane ways to end a life.

I also don't think Congress should have interfered. It's none of their concern. That choice belonged to her husband first, and then the family. Then again, that's an entirely different set of opinions of mine.

Angela, if you read this before you depart, I need a tiny favor.

i'm not happy they starved her to death, but i feel her parents needed to wake up and realize they were not doing the right thing..

tho i'm sure you saw my post..

the people that are protesting really needed to stop being stupid though. they didnt know the woman, and i feel they had no right to even have her on the news like they did...

Well that's actually the point... congress didn't interfere. They essentially said that they weren't touching it with a 10 foot pole and that's why they got shot down with then tried to appeal three times to congress and the supreme courts.

You know this is really a time where you wonder about people like Kavorkian... I mean if they were allowed to assist in death... she wouldn't have had to suffer through starvation and dehydration. It would feel like a really bad hangover and sharp pains in the stomach... that would suck. If I had a family member that was like that and I knew that they didn't want to live, I would risk going to jail for murder if I knew that they didn't have to suffer.

I think it's important to remember that "Whatever it is" can be nothing. There could be nothing beyond this life. I'd argue that that's pretty similar to "laying in a brain dead state"

I don't really want to get into the philosophical implications, though.

Yeah, hence why I said "Whatever it is." even if the afterlife is nothing at all. I'd rather go to that than spend this life in her state, but that's just me.

AMEN brother. She didn't have any mental capacity. She was in a vegatative state. She didn't suffer.

Vegetative.

And furthermore, if *I* am in a vegetative state, please starve me to death. Slit my wrists. Do anything you want, but kill me. I'm serious. I would rather starve to death than spend all of my parents' and tax payers' money keeping me alive with no hope of recovery whatsoever.
