For the first time, I made an article of clothing that was NOT for cosplay!!

Except it still looks kinda costume-y... )

Omg it took me a while to get the drive to finish it... I actually cut out the pieces wayyyy back in December or something and they just sat there for the longest time. But the recent cold weather made me want to finish it so I could wear it. xD Sewing real clothes is such a hassle because you have to really care about how it looks and I felt like it had to be up to par with the clothes I normally wear... so I was being perfectionist with the seams and stuff.

Haha, yeah, it's a cute idea... but it's like one extra thing to wash lol.

...but isn't any new clothing something extra to wash?

In my recent sewing-mood (which has yielded surprisingly little actual sewing... :( ), I've been playing around with fashion design type ideas. (mostly more vest ideas + alteration ideas for shirts like using a different fabric for the front part with the buttons + collar. (I already have swapped out the buttons on a number if my dress shorts in favor of more interesting ones))

I already try to make my costumes as clothing (if that makes sense...). And I've worn vests I've made as cosplay for non-cosplay purposes. (such as the vest I made for Suigintou - Pic / Alt PicIn addition to stuff like vests and maybe shirts, I had this idea to make snow gear for myself, since unlike normal (boring) men's clothes, I could get fairly creative with that without being weird ( ... )

o-on par with the clothes you wear? XDD

And yay for real clothes! I like the design and such :) Try making your own clothes, from design to production >D! Doesn't matter if it's a costume or real clothes. I think it would be the dearest (and maybe the proudest) thing you hold..like your baby!

My friend (well, one of my models) has a vintage cloak that's like that one :) Love the fabric you picked out!

Also, I have that heart egg-shaper but I've never used it, heh.

Your clothes are always so cute! And your coat looks awesome. *A* I want to make my own clothes not for cosplay, but I'm always busy or lazy. XDDD

Did you use a machine for the button holes? (I can't figure out my machine...so ugh. XD)

Yeahhh I hear ya. It took a lot of commitment and drive for me to finish it really...

I have a buttonhole foot for my machine but the fabric was too thick to use it so I just drew a line for the buttonhole and did zigzag stitch all around it. I set the zigzag stitch length longer and made the machine stitch them really close together... I don't know if that makes sense haha.

I have a buttonhole foot too, but I haven't figured out how to use it yet...

Makes sense. I did that to embroider a border of something. XD
