A long, over-due post... in general. ><
THURSDAY
- I did not sleep the night before... did not get much sleep in the week before. Procrastinated terribly on EVERYTHING and was not able to finish
gintaku's Tales cosplay. ;_; Was barely able to get Momohime to a stage where I could at least finish at the con.
- Made it to the convention center around 9am or so... was wearing Saki.
Yeahhh I look pretty dead lol. Also, I don't make a very good Saki... xD;; Btw, Saki photoshoot pictures are
here.
- Saw some cute Vocaloid cosplayers
- Hung out with Hye most of the day... went to dealer's hall, a few panels. Saw Coorie perform!! Her voice is so pretty :)
Also saw Kuribayashi Manami! She sounds so much better live~
The idol otaku in the front row were really energetic. xD
Hye and GIANT HI-CHEW.
Hye wearing Valerie's ears from her Summer Wars cosplay. ;D
- Saw the world premiere of "Black Lagoon Season 3" although it was really just an OVA about Roberta. It was pretty cool, although I basically fell asleep when the lights went out. x_x There were some cool Bakemonogatari cosplayers around afterwards though!
Hitagi's weapons were actually peace-bonded hahaha. xD;
- Then I think I basically went back to the hotel to work on Momohime... and sleep.
FRIDAY
- Woke up and worked on Momohime for a while... but didn't get too far. I got into Yuki and headed to the May'n and Nakajima Megumi concert, which was AWESOME. :D May'n was really sexy and Nakajima was amazingly adorable!! I liked Megumi better because she wore a poofy dress and had a side ponytail haha... very reminiscent of a 90's idol. It was such a nice concert that the $15 price tag on the ticket seemed well worth it. Also, I think the song I knew best was "My pilot's a boyfriend" (わたしの彼は左きき). xD
- Headed to Bandai booth as Yuki to dance Hare Hare Yukai with Cristina and Karrie... I never imagined that I would know that dance so well lol.
- Then I went back to the hotel and finished up Momohime. Then I spent basically 3 hours getting into it. Yes, so around 9pm I headed to the convention center to walk around in the costume and test it out. It turned out not bad... I made up an Obi bow and was surprised that it stayed together. This is the only picture I have of the costume haha.
I will need to wear it at another convention, as this was the only time I was able to wear it during the whole con. The kimono is all hand-painted. Photo by
sklathill.
- Some pictures from that day...
Cute Sailor Moon! :)
From the Cats musical. Very cute~ &hearts I think that they were sorta being random cats inspired by the musical and not specific characters from it.
Cute maids~ I think I do have a thing for girls with short hair. ;)
Sokka from the "Day of Black Sun" episode of Avatar. His costume was pretty nice!
SO AMAZING!!! Their poses are awesome!
Pretty dark elf lady~
Cool Shichika from Katanagatari!! He said he had a Togame but she'd changed already.
SATURDAY
- Wore Rimi in the morning and was able to to get an autograph from Kitamura Eri (Saya from BLOOD+, Rimi from Chaos;Head)!! :DDD She recognized my cosplay as I walked up and wanted a picture of me. And when I did the salute pose she said "あー!ビシィッポーズでった!!”(Ah! There's the salute pose!) :))) She ended up signing my hair ribbon from my cosplay~~ And then Horie Yui was also there but I kinda had nothing for her (which was the opposite of most people in line) so I asked her to sign my badge lol...
- Then I had to change into Yuki to help out Bandai booth again. No dancing this time, but I was hanging out at the autograph session for Crispin Freeman, Johnny Bosch, Stephanie Sheh, and Wendee Lee. Wendee was really nice and excited to see all the fans lined up for her.
Me at the signing, with Karrie as Mikuru.
Trying not to smile haha...
They were also promoting Gurren Lagann at the same time.
- Also, we got autographs and pictures with Kuribayashi Manami!!
- Afterwards, I had wanted to wear Momohime, but ended up back in Rimi to try to meet up with Valerie as Yua... didn't quite hang out long enough for pictures but she looked really cute~ Went for happy hour with Vince, Joe and some staff at an Irish pub in downtown LA. I could not handle the Irish coffee... ><; although it tasted pretty good.
- Then, headed to Masquerade, which was reallyyyy quite good. I enjoyed the Alice in Wonderland to Lady Gaga skit and the Ninja Scroll skit was EPICCCC. O_o
- More pictures of the day:
Valerie's England eyebrows. They are awesome.
antieden did such a good job!!
Cuuuute Cats cosplayer!! She looks just like Demeter going to rehearsal or something. xDD It was kinda funny when I asked for her picture, her mom and brother just kept walking and she didn't ask them to stop or anything... I had to ask them to stop and wait for her haha.
Taiga and Ami~~ I didn't get a chance to take a picture of Shiya as Minorinnn. :(
Some cool Samurai people!! Joe took this picture while I was at the Bandai booth.
So nice *_*
Woman in cute yukata~
SUNDAY
- I was so dead by the last day... all I did was go to the dealer's hall. Although, the day before, I saw the corset vendor and thought to try on a corset. :D
Yeahhh the result was a little frightening... it's pretty difficult to breathe in those things. Guy on right is my boyfriend, Joe... which needs another entry.
- When I was browsing doujinshi, I ran into this guy!!
A little thin but not bad!!
His poses weren't too Shinkenger-like... but he didn't have a sword so I guess he had to make do.
And right after I took the 2nd picture, these two guys nearby said "You know what this picture is missing?? Black people!" And promptly jumped into the picture... which turned out kind of awesome, so I had to take it. xD
GENERAL THOUGHTS:
It's not quite as fun without the cosplaying my brains out and running around all the time... I was a bit too exhausted this time for that. Also, it was hectic coordinating costumes with people and I wasn't able to wear what I wanted to... but there's always next con. Next year, I need to not procrastinate... -_- Also I want to strive to attend more gatherings again, as a lot of the usual cosplayers seem to be absent from them and it's a little sad...
'Til next year, AX!!
