I wish you the best of luck in the job hunting and all! I can totally empathize with you though, I went through that and heck, I still feel like I'm waiting for something big or good to happen and it's hard to be patient, y'know? Something good will come along, I'm sure!
Thanks! >< It was hard when I was completely unemployed to wake up every morning and feel like I was going somewhere. All I could see sometimes was my vision of how I wanted to live moving further and further away from me while I stayed stuck in the present. I also didn't like that I was "waiting" because I should be out there doing things!
I'm also a firm believer in making your own good things happen so I'm just trying to stick to what I've learned and liked (pole-dancing whut) and see it through somewhere.
For me, I feel like I need a balance between looking forward and carpe diem. I just get antsy if all I do is think about what I could be doing in the future, but I don't know if that also prevents me from being properly motivated. :x You seem like you're on the right track and know what you want, so all the more power to ya.
Lol, I'm sooo not cut out for pole dancing. I lost a lot of upper body strength after not having to take PE after high school. Do you have a video of yourself? I wanna see! :D
Small companies for the win! I never had the small company experience, but it Seems like they give some really great experience. And maybe you'll find something permanent there :D
Flash skills sound useful; I tried learning Flash once, it was really hard! o.O Gambatte nee!
Ahaha well I dream of being at a big company but a company's a company, right? I'm trying to be as open-minded as possible and I think so far, it's been helpful!
I think Flash animation skills are especially useful right now since a lot of mainstream visual culture right now has a really graphic style, so a lot of ads and web series are using Flash animation since it's fast (this company does about 3 minutes of animation a week) and relatively easy to use in many formats.
a big company is nice for stability, but I think that's it.
so, I think it might be nice later in life or if raising a family. But otherwise, to me it seems hard to imagine someone not wanting to work in a small company. (maybe not tiny because then they parobably can't pay well) With somewhere smaller, you can have a lot more influence. And you can also move up easier as they grow.
though who you work with is maybe most important. And since it seems you like your co-workers overall, maybe if not your dream, it still sounds like a good place to be.
It seems like you're doing well and that you'll get to where you're going. I've seen a lot of friends graduate from college in the past few years. There's no shame in moving back home. I commend you going out there and trying so hard to find the job that you want. I know quite a few people who move back home, get comfortable, and don't even try to look for anything. On the other hand, I have friends who were basically thrown out of the house, so they had no choice but to figure out a way to survive in this world. These days, work is work and it doesn't matter who you work for. People are just grateful to have work. Good luck!
