unsharp mask is your friend

you should apply the unsharp mask in PS to this image while full size, then apply your desaturate, cropping. when i only had my little digicam, i used that unsharp mask tool like a motherfucker. thankfully, i can take low light pictures with relatively quick shutter speeds now :D

actually, after i desaturated, i cropped, then i fucked with the brightness/contrast (decreased the brightness and upped the contrast), and then i added a 5 pixel motion blur. good times.
